A penalty can be for 2 minutes (minor penalty), 4 minutes (double minor), 5 minutes (major penalty, which serves the full 5 minutes no matter if the team gets a power play goal)

If a team scores a goal on the power play, the penalized player returns to the ice and 5 on 5 action resumes.
