Lets name footballers who have really fallen off i.e were playing at the top level but seem to have disappeared off the radar now.

Here are a few i can think off.

Lauren-I know he is signd for Portsmouth but i cant remember the last time i saw him play. He was an excellent player at Arsenal

Stephen Carr-Ok i found out today that he retired but he was a seriously good right back when he was at Spurs. Injuries fucked him up big time and now his career is over at 32.

Andy Van Der Meyde-Great things were expected of him when he was at Ajax with the likes of Sneijder and Van Der Vaart, then he moved to Inter where he couldnt get in the team much. After that he moved to Everton, played a few games for them and now seems to have disappeared completely. I heard rumours that he has a drink problem which is a shame if true.

Sergio Conceicao- He was setting the world alight in Italy with Lazio and Inter. Then things went downhill. last i heard he was doing ok at Standard Liege. I dunno who he plays for now.

Denilson-What a failure.

Dalian Atkinson-When i was young, he was one of my favourite players. He was class for Aston Villa, then he moved to Galatasary and i hardly ever heard about him again after that. I think he ended up in China.

Gaizka Mendieta, Gerard Lopez, and Francesco Farinos- All highly rated members of that quality Valencia team of the late 90's, early 00's. All moved on. Mendieta went to Lazio and ended up at Middlesbrough. He played one good season for them and then disappeared. Gerard Lopez went to Barcelona. Never made a impact. ant remember where he went after that. Farinos joined Inter and then moved back to Spain before disappearing off the radar altogether.

I have no idea where Mendieta is now.

Denilson is at Palmerias, he comes on for a cameo last 30 mins. I still think he had bags of ability but didn't have the mentality for it, such as Recoba. Wheres Recoba now? :wondering:

^^i think Recoba is at Torino. or most likely on their treatment table.

I guess Palmeiras is still a good level for Denilson but he never fulfilled his potential.

Anthony Le Tallec- WHere is he now?

Just found out Recoba is in Greece and Panions..or something.

Denilson had more talent than some players who are classed as world class now, Denilson admitted going to Real Betis was a mistake, a transfer to Barca fell through and Real Betis came in. He was expected at 19/20 years of age to lead the team to the title. Which he couldn't handle.

heres another one: Alpay- Remember he played for Villa. He was a very good defender. He even scored a hat trick in a game for Turkey while playing centre half. The english media ran him out of England after he taunted poor Goldenballs after he missed a penalty against Turkey. Then he went to Borussia Dortmund i think. Not sure where he went after that though.

^^could have sworn he went to Dortmund. So he sucked for Cologne did he? He was very good for Aston Villa while he was there though. He was a bit mad though like all Turks lol

^^he was a great keeper. He was an idiot though for throwing his career away like that.

he was the only goalkeeper to save a Matt Le Tissier penalty.

Jari Litmanen - played for liverpool. last i remember, roy hodgson signed him for fulham. hes back at a club called fc lahti.

patrick berger - class for liverpool, did okay at portsmouth, played okay-ish for villa in the games he did get. had a few excellent games for us, played mainly in villa reserves and had many setbacks because of his knee injury.

refused to play in reserves, fell out with o'neill. therefore got sent on short-term loan with stoke city in the championship. played well there, reconciled with MON, got back into the first team

he messed his chances up again by advising barry to move to liverpool. got released - serves him right. there goes his chances of permiership football.

Yea Litmanen was great back in the day. He was among the best players in the world at one stage. He won a champions league with Ajax and was one of their best players. He played with Barcelona for a few years and then went to Liverpool where he was decent. But the injuries took their toll on him after that.

Patrick Kluivert. His career really went downhill fast didnt it. He never really fulfilled his potential although he did score the winning goal in the 95 champions league final.

I would have said Albert Luque as well. How could you compare the Albert Luque of Deportivo with the one at Newcastle. He seems to doing well back in Spain with Malaga now though.

Diego Tristan-Apparantly West Ham signed him not too long ago. I have forgotten what this guy looks like. He was one of the best strikers in Europe only a few years ago. Can he even play football anymore.

Juan Valeron-Another player from the Deportivo team. He was class but injuries have ruined his career. He hasnt played in ages. Im not sure if he is retired now.
