simple question. with all this talk of granting clemency to tookie williams and the virgina gov that granted clemency to the man who would be the 1000th person ordered to death since capitol punishment was re-instated, due to dna evidence. what should be looked and considered when giving a person clemency?

Well I think they should take a look at their history and behavior while locked up. If they have contributed to soceity(inside prison or to the outside world) in a positive way and can continue to do so then they should be allowed to keep their lifes and continue doing the work they are doing while staying in prison.

Did they do or not do the crime? If not, release them. If they did it, no clemency. If a Mother Teresa murdered people, no clemency.

Justice = you knew the rules, you broke the rules, you pay the price. You don't want to die, don't murder people. Simple.

even the people who are currently in position to make the laws, are breaking them... thats grounds to give ordinary prisoners some type of break... im not saying let them go or anything but clemency should always be an option unless its the person is stone cold 100% guilty
