What kind of proof do you want?

#1
These are serious questions I'd like all of you to answer:

1. What kind of proof do you require in order for you to know there is a higher power if existence isnt enough and/or what other ppl claim to have witnessed to know isn't enough?

2. Would you only want a proof that could be shared with others so they wont think you're crazy? Or would you not be so picky and just want any kind of proof period so you could know there is a higher power?

3. Would that higher power have to be in line with what man made religion/beliefs says or not with you in order to be prooven as a higher power in the first place? (in other words, would you limit your perception of proof because of man?)

4. How do you feel about a communication to yourself from a higher power? Would that even be proof enough or would you just brush it off as if that only means you are crazy just because other ppl would call you that just for telling them that?

5. Are you the kind of person that would deny the existence of a higher power if you did infact have some sort of the proof? And why to your answer?

6. What would a voice come into your mind that made an intelligent seeming coherent sentence mean to you:

A) There is a higher power
B) There is a such thing as ghosts
C) There is a such thing as demons
D) There is a such thing as the devil
E) It's just your imagination gone astray
F) You are crazy
G) Other (explain???)

^^^Or would it depend on what was said and how it was said?

1.) Either own observation, or some kind of physical evidence. Existance itself is certainly not enough. Existance only proves that we are. It says nothing about how we came into being.

2.) I wouldn't really mind as long as the prove is conclusive. But given the choice, make it shared. Much easier that way to spread the joy.

3.) Of course not. That's a huge flaw in thinking. Most people think God is good and nice and all that, but for all we know he could be a cynical asshole playing with us like a fat kid with insects. If it exists, it exists, and there's nothing in our thinking that he or she or it is eventually going to conform to, and we certainly shouldn't assume it will.

4.) Well, that probably depends on the way this "communication" is established. If I'm whacked out on magic mushrooms and at the end of the trip I had a faint feeling I talked to God, that would certainly be detrimental to my own perception of the credibility of the event. If the communication is in some way convincing I will enjoy it and ask God a whole bunch of questions. If I honestly believed God talked to me I wouldn't give a crap what anyone else thinks.

5.) Depends on the proof, of course. This follows question 1, really. If the proof is convincing, then I will never dismiss it. That's the un-scientific thing to do. However, reli-freaks will throw up the Bible as undeniable proof of God's existance. That's not proof. That's a storybook. Big difference. But no, if the evidence is credible and convincing, I'll never dismiss it.

6.) That would obviously depend on what is said and how it is said.

Why? Did you just get a call from God or something?

If you look at his Astral Projector thread i think he thinks he has seen a light recently, and without thinking about how other people may have seen lights as well without feeling the need to force those lights onto others, he does just that and disrespects people's individuality in his own head.

He actually sounds confident that he has found the answer to life's great questions, and just like we all start out wanting to save the world, he has taken on a personal crusade to rid the world of "ignorance" and bring "enlightenment" instead. I'm scared of this guy, I'm glad we don't live in the same country.
