Hypothetically speaking

This all came from a disscussion i had with one of my closest friends, just talking really and we both agreed on what each of us were saying.

Well lets just say that in the past (whenever it may be) instead of people being Racist/Prejudice to Black people, what if there were for example being people being Prejudice to Fat people for example.

I use the example Fat, but it could also be Different coloured hair,being skinny, being, tall/short, the way you speak etc.

And in a way this does happen, but i mean on the seriousness level of being Racist towards Skin colour. Although Hitler mainly wanted Blonde hair, Blue eyes But......


Back to my point, using the example of being Fat.

Ok, if you said to somebody,'come here your Fat cunt' or 'hi fatty' .

That would not really be frowned upon, unless the person was really sensitive about his weight.

But if somebody said 'Get here you Black cunt' then that would be frowned upon.

So the difference is in the past. If people were rounded up because they were tall for example and made to work . Then as things got better they would not be treated badly, but to this day they would be weary of there height.

And all this really boils down to the fact that every body is different , and skin colour is just the same as weight, hair colour height etc.

So back to my first two example, Yes, people would be offended and they would say 'Your being racist for calling me a Black cunt'. Which is right, But when you look at it from a different perspective being called a 'Fat bastard' is no different.

But obviously the difference is that people who were black have suffered and Fat people have not been targeted. But so could easily have.

Today is pritty much fair, I know people will say theirs a lot of racism about, but not as much as in the past. I think today most people are civil to one another about race. So if we acted like this 500 hundred years ago, then would it be black people to get targeted?

Maybe there would have been another Prejudice to come.

I hope people understand what my point is, infact its not a point, its just a disscussion that could of easily happened.

Someone made a post a long, long time ago about prejudices, and why insulting someone based on their skin colour was worse than insulting someone based on their height.

On a personal level, I can't think of a real reason for the greater sensitivity over racial prejudice. Practically, though, it tends to be more malicious. Racists have a hatred for an entire race of people, but very few people genuinely hate tall people.

Not entirely. Some people gain weight more easily than others, based on their metabolism. And, like jase said, you can't control your height

The fact is that when someone is rascist, or calls someone a nigger etc.., this is usually said out of hatred for that race, its not merely aimed at an individual. It may be caused by someone disliking blacks for whatever reason.
On the other hand when you insult someone in relation to their hair colour, weight etc.. this is just aimed at the individual. If I call someone a fat bastard, its not coz I have a deep hatred for all fat people, it is just aimed at an individual.

But lets just say a policeman witnesses somebody saying 'Fat bastard' and then 'black bastard' on two different occasions.

Do you think its right that the racist remark will get more justice achieved to it than the predjudise remark?

You're speaking hypotically but then you're applying it to today's reality. Can't do that. THATS ILLEGAL!!!!

And on-topic, it is not necessarily right to hold one prejudice in a different regard to another, but it is necessary for the aforementioned reasons. You acknowledged the importance of history & really, that's what it comes down to: what has happened in times past & what is in man's nature.

when you call someone out their name like that it's offensive period. calling the elderly a walking corpse, a nigga a monkey, a fat chick a cow, or whatever. there all terms of hate. the question of which being more offensive simply depends on how those listening take it.

but as far as society goes, the racism card is the one society would leans towards the most. my guess is due to the history we have with it, at least in the US.

had over weight folks been as severaly and maliciously violated as minorities, then yes. fat bastard would be just as powerful as nigga.

I see where you're getting at jase but the deal is like you said, the black folks were targeted for a long time and was utterly unacceptable up to this day compared to your little fat guy that would be sentimental. BTW hair and height is not self controlled it's hereditary my friend.
