I remember 10+ years ago, the computer and internet world were raving about reducing file sizes, introducing the jpeg format in place of the bitmap, replacing wave files with mp3s, mpgs with wmv, zip file etc etc.
Why have they stopped trying to make other files and also those format even smaller?
Now, files are actually getting bigger in size.
All that seems to matter in the industry today is increasing storage volume. I remember having a 500mb HD at one point, now I have half a TB.
Even my mp3 player has more storage space than my first PC. Then there was CD, they increased the space again and made DVD, now HDDVD and Blueray.
Im not interested in all that space. If we had carried on trying to reduce those filesizes, we wouldn't need these larger capacity drives.
What does every one else think?
