Trick on How to get Professional Results from windows Sound Recorder.
Many of you know that Windows comes with a program called Sound Recorder. It can be found in the start menu under Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/Sound Recorder. With sound recorder you can edit recordings and record up to standard PCM 48.000 KHZ 16 bit stereo. Unfortunately Sound Recorder was never intended to be used in a Professional Recording Environment so your recording was limited to a maximum length of 60 seconds. This is where I will explain the Trick to allow Sound Recorder to Record an unlimited length of time so long as you desire.
Step by Step Guide to trick Sound Recorder into Recording an Unlimited Length of Time.
1. Click Start/Programs/Accesories/Sound Recorder.
2. Click File and open Properties
3. Under Format Conversion choose from recording formats then click the button Convert Now
4. Under Name click on the arrow button to the right of untitled and choose CD Quality then click OK. That window will close then click OK.
5. Next this is where the Trick begins. You now click the record button (it has a red circle) and Sound Recorder will begin recording for 60 seconds. You let Sound Recorder Record for the entire length of 60 seconds. After the slider bar has traveled from the left all the way to the right you click on File then save as file name (Sound) Save as type Sounds [*.wav] to the Desktop or anywhere as long as you can remember where you saved it to.
7. After you have saved your 60 second CD Quality Clip to the desktop you will notice that the slider will be at Position 60.00 sec, Length 60.00 sec Here's the trick now press record button again. Sound Recorder will now record to a length of 120.00 sec. Keep repeating this process of clicking the record button over and over again until you reach however long you want to be able to record for.
8. When you’re done Click File save. Now any time you want to record something weather it be dubbing of tapes or records. Open up Sound Recorder and choose file open and then open up Sound.wav file you just made. When finished recording Make sure you save you’re recording as another name such as Makadon or anything other than sound.wav.
