Has anyone been following it this year? My dad watches it every year so I have seen quite a bit.

As you probably know, Lance Armstrong won, for the 7th Year running, he retired this year!

I personally think that anyone who completes it deserves a medal as i read somewhere that it is the equivilant of running two marathons a day the whole time! Sound tiring just thinking about it!

yes, i follow the Tour de France every year.

i think next year, without Lance, it will be more exciting. Ullrich, Basso, Valverde fighting for the triumph.

you definitely have to have great respect for him, what he achieved and what hes been going through in his life....even though there are still doping rumours.

and i think its unbelievable what they do. even though i cant believe that they do it without doping...

Good for him. He's a great athlete and all..and I give him credit for what he's accomplished, but on a personal level, I can't stand the guy.

agree, outstanding athlete. Got a lot of respect 4 him. But the way he behaves is scandelous. What he did last year in the Simeoni-situation was crazy.
Watched it everyday. Great race every year. Vino's performance yesterday was outstanding.

Long story. Couple of years back Simeoni and Armstrong were both clients of Italian dr. Ferrari. He got caught 4 prescripting drugs 2 some riders. In the courtcase Simeoni testified against Ferrari. And Armstrong supported Ferrari. Armstrong was pissed that Simeoni testified against Ferrari. So when Simeoni attacked in a Tour de France stage last year Armstrong followed him. Simeoni rode 2 the leaders of the stage. They both joined them. The result was that T-mobile started to take them back. So the leaders asked Armstrong 2 wait for the peloton. Otherwise they wouldn't get the chance 2 win the stage. Armstrong refused. He said he was only gonna wait 4 the peloton if Simeoni would do the same. Simeoni had no choice. Otherwise the other riders would be pissed at him 2.

Both times: during the ride 2 the front and while waiting Armstrong kept on calling Simeoni names.

You gotta understand that Simeoni isn't a rider who wins many races. So this was a big oppertunity 4 him. Would have been the greatest victory of his cariere. Armstrong took that chance because he didn't like what Simeoni said in a courtcase.

That ain't all. In the last stage 2 Paris Simeoni attacked again. Armstrong let his team ride to get him back. So they did and Yekimov started yelling at Simeoni when he fell back into the peloton. Scandalouz, he took away another chance.

The worst thing is, Armstrong talked Domina-captain Cipolinni into sending Simeoni home. Simeoni refused. Just a couple riders in the peloton got the guts to disagree with Armstrong. One of them is Paolo Bettini. Probz 4 him.

It could turn into a courtcase against Armstrong and Cipolinni for Sport-fraud. But the Italian legalsystem is hard 2 understand, so it aint clear at all. It's said when Armstrong crosses Italian border he can be arrested, but if that's true? I ain't sure about that.

i dont remember the stage/situation but i cant see why armstrong wouldnt have been able to win the stage on his own, without waiting for the poursuivants..he didnt need anyone.lol

one question though: how do you know what they said during the race? from bike to bike...i mean, im following the tour every year and i never hear anybody say something. its not possible for the viewers to hear something....

if armstrong has truly gone through his career without taking performance-enhancing drugs then i got as much respect for him then any athlete/sportsman in history, to come back from the adversity that hes been through and still completely dominate the worlds toughest aerobic sports event is truly amazing

actually, armstrong had a long time assistant or some person like that , who also was like a rider i think. he's american. couldnt tell ya his name. but he is now taking armstrong to court because he says he was fired unfairly when he discovered steroids and other performance enhancing drugs in armstrongs home. but to be fair there really is no proof that steroids or performance enhancing drugs have any negative effect on a person

That guy was his personal assistant. The story is that in february of this year a UCI-representant came by 4 a suprise drugstest. The guy (think his name is Anderson or something) called Lance and he stayed away till late that evening. Anderson looked into Lances fridge and saw EPO. When Armstrong heard this he didn't talk 2 him again. The guy who claimed 2 be good friends with Armstrong before this, was fired later. He has written a book or something about Armstrong too.
