Man what the fuck is up with torrents, why does everyone say they're so good? I have ADSL2+ and torrents are slow as fuck, its almost as bad as dial up some times.

At least P2P gets good speeds, file sharing sites get good speeds, torrents suck.

Am I doing something wrong or are they just slow? Im using Azureus.

depends on how many seeders there are and what connection they have. i've only had really good speeds a few times tho

depends where you get them from....i use these sites and i get pretty good speeds....

isohunt.com is ok too

and i use bittorrent as my client.

oh, raphustle's having a little money trouble,. but they should be back up shortly...the raised 238 bucks in three days, so their goal of 300 should be met soon...

I still prefer IRC to Bittorrent.

most of the times i get 100-200kbps.if you're downloading a file just make sure it has more than 5 seeders,you should be ok.The more seeders,the faster the speed.The torrent sites should tell you how many seeders there is.

ive used both bittorrent and azureus and can say its who your sharing with that give you speeds or not,but i like torrent cuz it has more exclusive stuff then p2p like limewire or IRC. But IRC is best if your looking for a broad item list. and i prefer azureus,bittorrent was too slow and wasnt that appealing. But you should be getting some decent speeds,azureus at least i can say gives me that for files that are hard to find.

I also prefer IRC BUT bittorrent is much easier and there are no queues. The obvious problem is the speed since IRC is faster with the bots that the people serve. But bittorent always have the files that I need and especially the tv shows that I want to see.

HINT: The newer the file is the more seeders there wil be hence the speed will be faster. Over time the seeders will drop and it will become slow.

Forgot to mention that also make sure for bittorent to have a port open so you can be connected to the trackers of that file. Improves speeds.

^hey, help me out with that....im on the settings and i see that port crap, but i gotta enter in a number...it says look for available port and there's a range of numbers....do i go to the extremity?


and lets talk about the safety of torrents as well....are they really as safe as some people claim it to be?

Nothing is safe, but thankfully I have norton which scans everthing I download before I can open them. So far only one file was corupt and or didn't work and thats out of over 100 files downloaded. Video mostly. As to the port thing here are some guides:

so has anyone tried bittorrent and then ended up switching to azureus (sp.)? someone told me that it was worth it cuz of that safepeer thing it has, but i use peer guardian as well...extra protection wouldnt hurt, but im comfortable with bittorrent, and dont really wanna make a switch...but should i?
