I have this DVD player but it wont play DVD's. the screen comes up and it says 'read' when i put dvd but it never starts playing. i many different dvds but still wont play. then i tried cd to play and it did play but it was playing in parts. it would play then stop then play.

What should i do with it to get it playing before i take it to machanic and have them fix it which i dont want cause they'll ask me to pay them.

This is the kind i have:

lol no warranty here.

I'll see if i can clean them lens with the polish gently so i dont scratch or something and if then that wont help then either i'll buy that thingy you showed me or just have mechanic fix it for me, would that be more cheaper to have someone fix it for me or to buy the thing and do it myself?

Get a price quote before you tell them to fix it. Because they might charge you as much as the DVD player costs you. If worst comes to shove sell it on ebay.

^exactly

oh and the reason it was reading some of the cds and not dvds is because theres 2 different lenses, one for cd and one for dvd.

cd lens cleaners are not that good.i wouldn't even bother getting the drive replaced.it's gonna end up costing you an arm and a leg.buy a new one, they arent that expensive anymore
