Ex-BNP man faces explosives charge
By Andrew Hewitt

A FORMER British National Party member has been accused of possessing the largest amount of chemical explosives of its type ever found in the country.

Robert Cottage, 49, of Talbot Street, Colne, appeared before Burnley magistrates charged with possession of an explosive substance.

Cottage was charged under the Explosives Substances Act 1883 on Monday night after forensic experts searched his home, allegedly discovering chemical components which could be used to make explosives.

Police sealed off Cottage's home last Thursday and finished their search at the weekend.

Officers claim that their find is the largest haul of chemicals of its kind discovered in someone's home in the country.

However, the exact nature of the chemicals has not been revealed.

David Leach, representing Cottage made no application for bail.

Magistrates remanded Cottage in custody and referred his case to Burnley Crown Court where he is due to appear later this month.

Cottage, a sub-contracted driver for Lancashire County Council, stood for the BNP in the May elections in the Vivary Bridge ward of Colne.

l Police were yesterday searching a house in Trent Road, Nelson, where a 62-year-old-man was arrested in connection with the investigation.

He was last night being quizzed by detectives.

I don't understand why you link to one video accusing the media of covering it up, and then your next post links to a media story about it.

The British media of all groups would probably be the last people to cover up white terrorists, considering they were subjected to the white IRA's terrorism for almost 90 years.

The Brits have been terrorized by more white terrorists than any other people on the planet.

the newsource in the second post was a from a local paper. You would think that such a story would have made the international media, let alone the national media!

I don't see why international media would be interested in an old racist's barn stashed full of weapons.

You're on the conspiracy tip, man.

the same reason an arrest of a "suspected" terrorist i.e. forest gate, manchster, crawley etc etc. is the first item on prime time news.. usually in them cases the police have jack all evidence. Here we have the biggest stockpile of chemical weapons (not to bags of ricin which also made big ass news) in a bnp members house and not a weep by any major media outlets.

double standards??

Huh?

I think you need to distinguish between the many different varieties and incarnations that the IRA acronym may refer to. Official statistics suggest that more Irish civilian victims have been killed by Loyalist Paramilitary Groups and British security forces (purported to be legitimate) since the commencement of the troubles.

Furthermore, for over thirty years the UK media have consistently demonstrated there ineptitude to report the Northern Ireland conflict in a truthful and balanced manner. So low on the news agenda is loyalist paramilitary activity that even the barbarous murders of the Shankill Butchers from 1975 to 1977 hardly registered with the media. There have been condemnations of loyalist killers in all papers, but these have been random, never coalescing into the wave of propaganda mounted against the IRA.
