We all know the media is corrupt, I see it mentioned all the time, it exaggerates things, flat out makes them up, or pedals propaganda. Fox News is about as unbiased as Hitler on the Israel debate.
So what should be done about it? What could be done about it? Do we just sit back and accept the fact that the news isn't as truthful as it once was and hope everyone else catches on, or do we as a society to something about it?
I would like to see us take an example from the scientific community and set up an international body that investigates media claims to ensure they are factual and unbiased, and holds those accountable that breach a certain ethical agreement.
Sure this would never eliminate all the lies, but I would much easier believe a media source that belongs to such an institution than one that doesn't, and at least it would offer people an indication of who can be believed and who cant. Ideally media sources would be kicked out of the alliance if they were found in breach of its ethics.
What do you think? Is it possible? Is it even needed?
