Tell Me Your Thoughts On This Quote

For all of you who are familiar with the movie, "As Good As It Gets," there is a line in the movie where Jack Nicholson says something along the lines of "it's not that you have it that bad, it's that you're that pissed that everyone else has it that good."

Helen Hunt's character (Carol) shoots it down as being untrue but I've seen this movie a dozen times and something about it rings true to me.

I mean, think about it. I'm just going to use one example. I work at a job making very little money living paycheck to paycheck. Now, I ask myself: Am I more bothered by the fact that I don't have much, if any, extra money or the fact that there are all these people out there with tons of money they don't know what to do with (many of whom didn't earn it?)

I have to say, I'm more upset that "everyone else (or many people) have it that good"

For me, it's that everyone has it that good at this point in life, but I'm working on deviating from that mind state. It is more or less an envious and material outlook on life and people in it.

i once had the face of my cd player and ashtray stolen out of my car. granted i was insulted, pissed, and depressed cause i ain't had no music, but my boss at work told me something that shut me up. he said...
"they could have took the car and left you the radio and ashtray."

real talk. then i met my partna's and they have all their troubles, plus all the problems around the world that's going on. it's like you just don't realise how good you have it sometimes.

so i disagree because i don't feel all woe is me about alot of the bullshit that comes my way. but i do agree that some people, deep down, do view things as the quote says.

this quote also means to me that you should appreciate what u have...dont look at other ppl..dont compare to what u have amongst others...because everyones luck is different......ur education and ur luck are two things that no one can touch.....thats what my mom tells me......someone may not like what u do...or may not want u to have somrthing...but thats too bad cause they cant do anything about it.....

this is...as good as it gets for us because this is better off then being lesser then this if that makes any sense.....

im an unappreciative person sometimes...not happy with what God gave me in life...so this quote reflects on me a lot....i have a lot to learn..aloooooooootttttttt

yah i agree too...

i mean, i work at a gas station. and everyday, i see dumb kids that cant do math in their head, trying to come up with a simple math solution to avoid the .45 cents fee to use their card...

then they put like $5, and the next day, their parents need gas, so they fill up everyones car...
and their cars are like freaking 2008's and shit.

but in the end, i know im the strong one thats going to fight for my education and become something greater than they can become b/c im independant...

its just that nerve racking shit people go through, and see their peers not go through it.

i know this 16 year old kid....his parents bought him a brand new 2007 Hyundai. He's spoiled rotten but he's actually a cool kid. We call him Jesus because it seems like he incorporates Jesus into every conversation and not in a serious way but a sarcastic one. Anyway, he hit a telephone pole going 60mph. Surprisingly, he wasn't hurt at all but his car is totaled.
