Team USA Loses To Mexico 2-1; Eliminated From WBC

I think we were so overrated, guys did play good, but if we faced the Dominican Republic we would have lost. And once again A-Rod shows he can't step it up in the big game.

umm he walked in the 9th inning today, how can he step up when hes not given a chance to hit a pitch?

he sure as hell stepped up vs Japan in the 9th inning

anywho, congrats to Japan and Korea (and Cuba and the Domincan Republic)

Ehh, this is more disappointing than the last Olympic basketball team. Just reading the roster you're like wow, these guys cant lose but they do. Many will say they didn't play well but truly I think the MLB is overrated, compared to the rest of the world, that isn't saying they aren't the best either.

The USA could have easily been undefeated in this tournament. Look at the games they lost. If that Utley ball against the Canadiens had gone a few more feet, the US would have wont that game. If they would have gotten a few clutch hits (with bases loaded) against Korea, they would have won that game. And last night's game was anyone's to win. They just didn't get some of the bounces.

They'll be back in 2009!

The only thing that is disappointing is that, looking at their lineup, with all that power, they should have scored 15 runs a game heh. Okay, maybe not that much, but they should still have mustered up more than 1 run.

Another thing that screwed them was Willis' struggles. He'll without a doubt have another good year for the Marlins, but it didn't look like he was ready at this point of the year yet.

I don't know what game you was watching. he played entire game, went 0-2 with two walks, including last ab in 9th. he didn't come through here. but he did pretty good overall in the tournament.

so a .500 OBP is not coming through for his team?

well you gotta keep in mind that alot of quality guys werent playing for the USA (Chris Carpenter, Jim Edmonds, Gary Sheffield, Barry Bonds*, David Wright etc) and that alot of other MLB talent is spread across the rest of the teams (Ichiro, Pujols, Ortiz, Santana, Tejada, Soriano, Reyes, Delgado, Cabrera, Bay etc)

and the usa basketball team got beat by a bunch of nobodies. atleast team usa can say they lost to major leagers lol

hahahah

Yeah you can say that but it is still a disappointment to me. Not every player on other teams are major leaguers like we are. Just seems we could of done better.

You said A-rod stepped it up only in 9th innining and wasn't given a chance to come through. which was not the case. he played the entire game and had dozens of chance to come through.but he didn't.
his .500 OBP has nothing to do with the game. he didn't come through when it mattered the most and thats what Dogmatic187's point was.
just like last year with Yank. he had MVP season but he couldn't come through in playoffs when it mattered the most.

i didnt say a-rod stepped up, i said a-rod never had a chance to step up in the 9th inning

why go and single out a-rod for the entire game when nobody did a damn thing?

mark teixiera was like 0-13 the entire WBC, only person to mention him is 2pacthug4life

You said he walked in the 9th inning as if he pinch hit and that was hes only ab. he was given a chance to step up 3 times before that.

(He didn't get a chance to hit? when he was walked in his last ab you saying. Actually if you look at it, he didn't got pinched around in his last ab, he was challenged. in 3rd or 4th pitch pitcher threw, if i remember he got fast ball right in the middle of the plate and he fouled it.)

I see that as an excuse. i dont buy it.
You can only put so much players in your squad. you can't take all the same position players you wan't. i would not say those USA quality players you named were the reason they got eliminated or had they been there the outcome would've be different, because they are just as good as any other same position players that made the team. Carpenter is just as good as Clemens maybe Clemens even better. Edmonds is just as important and good for the team as Damon or Griffey.Bonds? since when you want him in your team. if you gonna hate the man you might as well leave him out.oh he brings homeruns so now you wanna lick his ass. are you saying David Wright should've gone for team USA for A-Rod?

edmonds > vernon wells and johnny damon

david wright = good backup

barroid bonds* = peice of shit, but I won't deny his talent

Carp > Al Leiter and Mike Timlin

Damon has speed, Edmonds doesn't.David Wright isn't good enough yet. even if he was, he wouldn't be necessery. Blalock and Chavez better anyway.Carpenter is not a reliever.
