People pay too much attention to early-season form. As good a manager as Martin O'Neill is, he still has practically the same team that finished 16th last season. 16th to 4th in one season?

remember when david o'leary had the same team that finished 16th the season before he took charge and then his first season in charge brought them up to 6th?

MON is a god but he won't put Villa into the top 4.

Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea are def in the top 3. I doubt Villa will reach the top 4.

Yeah, but that season was a blip. They'd finished Top 8 for the past six of seven seasons. O'Leary took them to 6th, but then they finished 10th the following season and 16th last season.

yea thats rite, ur not wrong.

but... a change of manager will give the players a fresh start, and wiv martin laursen back, a good experienced defender (centre back) will help bolster the defence, more competition is good. also bouma is back.
baros is back, not fully fit, but on his way, adds more compeition to fight for the starting line-up, and MON will bring the best out of players like mellberg, barry, davis, petrov, angel, moore, baros, agbonlahor.

Martin O'Niell can go that extra mile, to get villa up the league table this season, and a higher finish in the table to help ensure a better status of the club and can also provide the squad with the right confidence and motivation.
(did u see david o'leary doing what all good managers do? no! he was just sitting watching the match, while he was letting roy aitken do all the work, shouting at players, telling them what to do, he was more of a manager last season). i hope roy aitken stays on at villa!

we've got off to a good start this season. MON may be able to build on an excellent start and continue the good form the players have been on. lets just hope they dnt get complacent about the results.

west ham will be a good test. the spotlight will be on tevez and mascherano, but they might not do as good as expected because every1 is relying on them to do well, looking at their performances more than any1 elses, and they want to see how the pair will do at west ham, since is was a shock transfer on deadline day.

but then again they might have excellent premiership debuts.

theres only 1 was to see how they do in the premiership against villa.

sky sports 1!!! cnt wait!!

the result was a draw, 1-1 to be exact.
we should have won the game. it should have been like 8-2 to villa, if not 8-0. west hams goal was lucky, from a deflection. we outplayed them. they were terrible at defending their corners. stilian petrov, barry, laursen, ridgewell, agbonlahor, moore and mellberg played excellent!

bottom line is we should have won by miles!

Villa's goal wasn't exactly clear cut either, Ridgwell just happend to be in the right place.
yea which shows that ridgewell knows where he should be, which worked out for him and villa. he was doing the right things and anticipated and got in there first to secure a 1-0 lead for villa. west hams goal was a lucky deflection.

ridgewell on the other hand was in there, alert and hungry for a goal which he made sure he got!
