You have from now until August 19th to pick your team, and you can change it around as much as you like before then. Post up your team if you want, for others to mock.

Illuminattile's Top Tips
* You have limited transfer funds, so think carefully about where to spend it. The top defenders cost less than the top striker, and will get the same points for not conceding as the latter will get for scoring a goal. It might be tempting to play Henry, Rooney and Shevchenko, but Ashley Cole, Rio Ferdinand and John Terry could get you the same amount of points and cost much less to buy.
* Claude Makelele might be a great player, but he won't get you too many points. Midfielders only get 1 point for not conceding, so you want midfielders that are going to score and assist.
* Defenders get points for clean sheets, but they also get points for scoring and assisting. Defenders who are good in the air and go forward for set pieces - like John Terry and Michael Dawson - and full backs who bomb forward and put crosses in - like Ashley Cole and Gary Neville - are likely to earn you more points than defenders who "just" defend.
* Your captain gets his points score doubled each week, so pick someone who's going to score/assist/keep a clean sheet. You can change your captain between gameweeks.
* Look at the fixtures for the next couple of weeks. Sometimes a team won't play in a gameweek, and sometimes teams will play more than once in a gameweek. If you know when this is going to happen, you won't have to make lots of transfers just to field 11 players.
* You get to make one free transfer each week. Every extra transfer costs 4 points. Before making a transfer, take into account whether it's worth spending 4 points on the player; are they going to score or keep a clean sheet? If not, you'll be losing points.
* Your four substitutes will automatically replace players that don't play, so it's worth having one or two that will get you a couple of points in the weeks that your star players get rested or pick up a knock before a game. However, it's not worth spending too much on players that aren't going to get you any points most weeks. Substitutes come on in the order they're on the bench, so you should put your best subs at the top of the list.
* This year's new feature is the transfer wildcard, which you can use once during the season. When you use it, any transfer you make will be free. This can be useful later on in the season when teams start playing twice in a gameweek, or if you find yourself with a lot of injured or suspended players.
