541128_judje_hammerA UN rights mission to probe Israeli's killing of 19 Palestinians last month in the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanoun has been canceled because Israel did not authorize the trip, a UN official said in Doha yesterday.

The mission, led by South Africa's Nobel Peace laureate Desmond Tutu, was dispatched by the Geneva-based UN Human Rights Council.

It was supposed to go to Beit Hanoun on Sunday and report back to the Council by the end of this week.

But the mission has been called off, because Israeli authorities did not grant Tutu and his team the necessary travel authorization, the UN official said.

The Human Rights Council voted to send the fact-finding mission last month after condemning the Beit Hanoun incident, in which more than 19 civilians, mostly women and children, were killed by Israeli shelling on Nov. 8.

The 47-state Council, which in June replaced the discredited UN Human Rights Commission, has already passed seven resolutions condemning Israeli human rights violations in Palestinian territory and in Lebanon.

Tutu, the former Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town, was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1984 for his fight against apartheid.

UN: Israel breaks border agreement

Saturday, 02 December 2006

A UN report has accused Israel of breaking all provisions in a year-old US-brokered agreement on Gaza's border crossings, as Condoleezza Rice visits the region.

The Agreement on Movement and Access, signed last November after the Israeli disengagement from Gaza, was meant to facilitate the movement of Palestinians and goods in and out of Gaza.
It also promised Palestinian control over the Rafah crossing into Egypt by November 2006, after a transitional year of EU monitoring and Israeli video surveillance.

At the time, the border agreement was hailed by Rice, the US secretary of state, as a breakthrough.

At the time, the border agreement was hailed by Rice, the US secretary of state, as a breakthrough.
It also promised Palestinian control over the Rafah crossing into Egypt by November 2006, after a transitional year of EU monitoring and Israeli video surveillance.

At the time, the border agreement was hailed by Rice, the US secretary of state, as a breakthrough.

She said the agreement would "give the Palestinian people freedom to move, to trade, to live ordinary lives".

But according to the United Nations Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Palestinians are worse off than they were a year ago, in terms of their freedom of movement and their overall economic situation.

Restrictions on access

The report said that access restrictions remained at the Gaza crossings.

"The ability of Palestinian residents of the Gaza Strip to access either the West Bank or the outside world remains extremely limited and the flow of commercial trade is negligible.

"Movement within the West Bank is also more restricted. There has been no peaceful economic development as envisaged by the AMA but rather a deterioration in the humanitarian situation and an increase in violence overall," the report says.

According to the report, unemployment in Gaza has risen from 33.1 per cent to 41.8 per cent over the course of the year. Rice is expected to bring up implementation of the agreement in discussions with Abbas and Olmert.

Violations

The UN report accuses Israel of violating every provision of the borders agreement to which it signed up, including the operation of the Rafah crossing.

Under the terms of the Agreement on Movement and Access, Israel had agreed to operate the Rafah crossing and other Gaza commercial crossings continuously, and to not close passages because of security incidents unrelated to the crossing itself.

Rafah, which is the only passageway for Gaza's 1.4 million residents, was shut down indefinitely by Israel on June 24 after Palestinian fighters attacked an Israeli military base, killing two soldiers and capturing another.

According to the UN report, it has been open for only 21 days since - 14 per cent of the scheduled operating days. A military document leaked to the Israeli daily Haaretz in August suggested that the continued closure was intended to apply pressure on Gaza residents until progress was made in returning the captured Israeli soldier, Gilad Shalit.

Israeli officials provided no comment on the matter to Al Jazeera despite numerous attempts.

Gateway

The crossing is Gaza's gateway to the world. Without it, patients cannot get medical treatment unavailable in Gaza; students cannot reach universities abroad; family members are separated from each other, and Gaza residents, 85 per cent of whom live in poverty, cannot reach places of work.

As a result of the continuing closure, 1.4 million Palestinians have become hermetically sealed into Gaza, and about 3,200 others remain trapped outside, Palestinian border officials say.

Use of the passage has been restricted to residents of the Gaza Strip carrying Israeli-issued Palestinian identity documents, despite agreement to allow numerous other categories access.

Non-ID card-holders, such as foreign-passport holders, Palestinian refugees living outside Gaza, or even residents of the West Bank, cannot use the crossing.

The movement of people between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank also remains virtually impossible, the report says, and the two areas have become more isolated from one another than ever before.

Israel had promised to allow convoys to transport Palestinian people and goods between Gaza and the West Bank by the end of 2005, but reneged on the agreement, the OCHA says.

Commercial losses

In addition, Gaza's main commercial crossing - al-Mintar, or Karni - has been closed for more than half the year, it says. An average of 12 lorries a day carring Palestinian goods has been allowed out of Gaza. Israel had promised to raise the number to 400 by the end of this year.

Less than four per cent of the Palestinian harvest was exported as a consequence, and hundreds of tonnes of produce spoiled or was dumped on the local market, crippling the local economy. Palestinian agriculture, one of Gaza's primary sectors, suffered $30m in losses as a result of the closure.

David Shearer, head of the OCHA, said: "Thousands and thousands of people have been stopped from moving - students, medical cases, people who have come to visit families, people returning from holidays ….

"From a humanitarian point of view, it's a major crisis for these people who are effectively trapped within and outside of Gaza."

Jimmy Carter: Israel not following its own values

Jimmy Carter: Israel not following its own values

Wednesday, 29 November 2006

WASHINGTON, DC: Former US President Jimmy Carter has said that Israel’s treatment of Palestinians in the occupied territories is one of the world’s worst cases of oppression. (Is he Anti-Semitic Now?) In an interview to CNN’s Larry King on Monday to talk about his new book Palestine: Peace, Not Apartheid, Carter said that Israeli policies in its country as well as the occupied territories have deprived Palestinians of basic human rights, and that nobody ever talks about it.

‘‘There is a clear distinction between the policies within the nation of Israel and within the occupied territories that Israel controls,” he said, “and the oppression of the Palestinians by Israeli forces in the occupied territories is horrendous.” He added that this important issue is hardly ever discussed in the US, and therefore does not get the attention it deserves.

He said, “You never hear anything about what is happening to the Palestinians by the Israelis. As a matter of fact, it’s one of the worst cases of oppression that I know of now in the world. The Palestinians’ land has been taken away from them. They now have an encapsulating or an imprisonment wall being built around what’s left of the little tiny part of the holy land that is in the West Bank.”
Carter, a Nobel laureate and founder of The Carter Centre, a human rights and peace non-profit, said that it is possible to find everlasting peace between the embattled nations. He said, “I was the one that negotiated a peace agreement between Israel and Egypt, not a word of which has ever been violated. So, I’ve devoted a good portion of my adult life trying to bring peace to Israel, which I admire very much.”

Jewish Settlers attack Swedish woman

Thursday, 23 November 2006

A 19-year old Swedish human rights worker had her cheekbone broken by a Jewish extremist in Hebron today. Earlier the same day at least five Palestinians, including a 3-year-old child, were injured by the settler-supporting extremists, who rampaged through Tel Rumeida hurling stones and bottles at local residents. Palestinian schoolchildren on their way home were also attacked. The Israeli army, which was intensively deployed in the area, did not intervene to stop the attacks.

Tove Johansson from Stockholm walked through the Tel Rumeida checkpoint with a small group of human rights workers (HRWs) to accompany Palestinian schoolchildren to their homes. They were confronted by about 100 Jewish extremists in small groups. They started chanting in Hebrew "We killed Jesus, we'll kill you too!" - a refrain the settlers had been repeating to internationals in Tel Rumeida all day.

After about thirty seconds of waiting, a small group of very aggressive male Jewish extremists surrounded the international volunteers and began spitting at them, so much so that the internationals described it as "like rain." Then men from the back of the crowd began jumping up and spitting, while others from the back and side of the crowd kicked the volunteers.

The soldiers, who were standing at the checkpoint just a few feet behind the HRWs, looked on as they were being attacked.

One settler then hit Tove on the left side of her face with an empty bottle, breaking it on her face and leaving her with a broken cheekbone. She immediately fell to the ground and the group of Jewish extremists who were watching began to clap, cheer, and chant. The soldiers, who had only watched until this point, then came forward and motioned at the settlers, in a manner which the internationals described as "ok... that's enough guys."

The extremists, however, were allowed to stay in the area and continued watching and clapping as the HRWs tried to stop the flow of blood from the young woman's face. Some, who were coming down the hill even tried to take photos of themselves next to her bleeding face, giving the camera a "thumbs-up" sign.

At this point, a HRW was taken into a police van and asked to identify who had attacked the group. The HRW did this, pointing out three Jewish extremists who the police took into their police vehicles. However, the extremists were all driven to different areas of the neighborhood and released nearly immediately. When one of the three was released on Shuhada Street, the crowd that was still celebrating the woman's injuries applauded and cheered.

A settler medic came to the scene about 15 minutes after the attack and immediately began interrogating the internationals who had been attacked about why they were in Hebron. He refused to help the bleeding woman lying on the street in any way.

Five minutes after the settler medic arrived, the army medic arrived and began treating the injured woman. When she was later put on a stretcher, the crowd again clapped and cheered.

Police officers at the scene then began threatening to arrest the remaining HRWs if they did not immediately leave the area, even though they had just been attacked.

The injured woman was taken to Kiryat Arba settlement and then to Hadassah Ein Keren hospital in Jerusalem.

HRWs were later told by the police that they had not even taken the names of those who were identified as having attacked the HRWs and that one of the main assailants had simply told the police that he was due at the airport in two hours to fly back to France.

The incident was the latest attack by extremist Jews in Hebron. The small group of Khannist settlers in Tel Rumeida regularly attack and harass Palestinians in the area. The violence sometimes spills over to the international human rights workers who accompany Palestinians in an attempt to protect them from settler attack.

The settlers in Tel Rumeida encourage Jewish tourists to come to support them, as a way of making up for their small numbers. Today, hundreds had come from tours in Israel for a special event - many from overseas: France, England and the United States.

Anything such as Zionist Terrorists?

It is time for Mr. Bush, other world leaders, and the United Nations to seriously acknowledge Jewish-Fascism before Islam bashing gets completely out of hand. Particularly alarming is the behavior of Jewish extremists who have illegally squatted on Palestinian land. The newest, and certainly not the most unique demonstration of this crazy and violent misinterpretation of Judaism comes from no less than a rabbi, whose published article in a minor Israeli journal openly spoke of systematically killing all Arab men above the age of 13.

Rabbi Yousef Falay, who lives illegally on stolen Palestinian land in the "Settlement of Yitzhar," published his rave entitled "Ways of War" that openly states: "We have to make sure that no Palestinian individual remains under our occupation. If they (Palestinians) escape then it is good; but if anyone of them remains, then he should be exterminated..." The last time I read about "extermination" of people, it was in the history books in the chapter on Nazi Germany.

Some might remember the American rabbi, Meir Kahane, whose Kach movement was founded on extreme racism, hatred and violence. It openly manifest a desire to kill all Arabs so that Israel would be a purely Jewish land with only Jews on its soil. Followers of Kahane have not disappeared, they are alive and well, beating 70-year old Arab men with clubs and pipes, uprooting Palestinians crops, killing their animals, and violently harassing Palestinian children on their way to school. Don't simply take my word for it, consult the International Solidarity Movement's activists who donate their time and sometimes lives, to advocate and protect unarmed and disenfranchised Palestinians from the vilest and cruelest hatred imaginable.

Contact the ISM and ask to see their videos of how the settlers (a real misnomer), hence called Jewish-extremists are enabled and protected by the Israeli IOF (Israeli Occupation Forces). Read about the Rachel Corries, the Brian Averys and the Tom Hurndalls, all US or British citizens who were deliberately killed by American bullets fired by Israeli soldiers as they tried to non-violently protect Palestinians. The Israelis themselves recognize their own failure in dealing with the extremists and organizations like Yesh-Din and so publicise this.

Jewish extremism is truly a plague on the Holy Land that must be stopped. It is immoral beyond words and its hypocrisy is chilling. As the western press continues to deafen us with examples of Islamic extremists, the scourge of the Jewish extremist on stolen land continues unabated funded by our tax dollars.

Zionist Agression Not in our Name - Protest Scottish Jews

"There has been considerable debate and comment in your paper about the conflict in Lebanon and the attitude of British Jews to the war. If reading the letters page was the only way of gauging non-Israeli Jews’ attitude to the war, it would seem that there is and was unanimous support for recent Israeli action. We would however, beg to differ.

It is a point worth making that not all Jews support the actions of the Israeli state in Lebanon and the Occupied Territories, and the level of debate and opposition in Israel itself would suggest we are not alone in this view.

A group of us marched at the Stop the War demonstration in Edinburgh on Saturday past under the banner of Scottish Jews for a Just Peace, calling for an immediate ceasefire, and were proud to do so. The response we had from others on the march was both moving and affirming; our presence triggering sympathetic discussion and mutual understanding with Lebanese, Syrian and Muslim groups and individuals; a dialogue that opens up real potential towards tackling preconceived ideas and views.

Whilst we welcome the current ceasefire, we now want to see the fundamental changes that will turn it into a lasting peace. Israel's use of overwhelming force against its neighbours represents collective punishment on civilian populations, which produces not victory but the hatred that will fuel future conflicts. To say this is not to defend Hizbollah's attacks on civilians; we care very much about the security of the people of Israel. But we recognise that their true security will not be achieved by force; in resolving the conflict, peace cannot be separated from justice - above all, justice for the Palestinian people. Without that, there will be no peace.

We may represent a minority current of Jewish opinion, but believe there are many other Jews living in the UK who feel the same way we do. We would call on them to join us and engage in a meaningful debate about the way forward to peace and justice"

Brother is doesn't matter no matter what you post or put up even a 100% creditable source. Morris will find some pro-Israeli, pro-Zionist article or organization that praises Israel. When the fact is both sides have done their share of dirt but Israel has a problem admitting to it. Whenever i hear about another suicide bombing or a shooting I always think of "For every action there is a opposite or equal reaction".

Which makes me wonder what happened to spark that attack? What aren't we hearing? Now Morris will say Hamas is hell bent on the destruction of Israel, an that may be so, I don't know cause I don't follow Hamas doctrine but I think there's more to it. Anyway its pointless cause for every one article or link you have which may be credible he has 5 pro- Zionist articles an links.

Zionist's an their supporters will never admit any wrong doing or restriction of basic human rights, because if they did then they would look like their Nazi oppressors and loose their sympathy from the world. Just remember as a non Jew you have as much worth as a pig

Are there Jewish terrorists? Yes. In fact, Kach and Kahane are classified as terrorist groups in Israel. But let's not compare them to Hamas: these groups have a combined membership of less than 200. And their terrorist attacks on Israelis (remember, one of them killed Rabin) and Palestinians over the last 15 years can be counted on 1 hand.

Particularly alarming is the behavior of Jewish extremists who have illegally squatted on Palestinian land.
If anything, settlers are unfairly painted as extremists. Every international document gave these people the right to live in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Obviously there's no document that says Jews can't live in the Palestinian territories, and vice versa. And the Jews that did settle in the West Bank and Gaza didn't take Palestinian homes or displace them. Those lands were vacant.

I have no idea how you can call them squatters. Palestinians had been living in the Gaza Strip long before Israel occupied it. Palestinians could have been living on that land if they'd wanted to, and they chose not to.

Contact the ISM and ask to see their videos of how the settlers (a real misnomer), hence called Jewish-extremists are enabled and protected by the Israeli IOF (Israeli Occupation Forces).
The ISM doesn't recognize Israel's right to exist. The ISM has been caught sheltering terrorists ( http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=7361 ) and instructing people on how to illegally enter Israel ( http://www.indymedia.org/content/2004/02/850423.shtml ). ISM openly admits to working with Hamas and Islamic Jihad. ( http://home.comcast.net/~jat.action/ISM_info.htm ) The ISM is hardly a credible source or reliable for anything regarding Israel and the Palestinian territories.

Read about the Rachel Corries, the Brian Averys and the Tom Hurndalls, all US or British citizens who were deliberately killed by American bullets fired by Israeli soldiers as they tried to non-violently protect Palestinians.
Rachel Corrie was accidentally run over by a bulldozer when she stood in its way to protect smuggling tunnels in the Gaza Strip through which weapons were illegally transported and smuggled in from Egypt. This is the same girl who weeks earlier was teaching children how to burn American and Israeli flags. Let's not pretend she's a Martin Luther King.

Brian Avery was breaking curfew and "milling around with rock throwers in Jenin," which is only the most dangerous place in the West Bank to be, by the way. He was allegedly shot in the face. Avery's alive, by the way.

Hurndall was hit by an Israeli sniper during a clash with terrorists. The sniper was sentenced to jail on 6 counts.

What's the common denominator in all of those stories? A bunch of people who are in warzones where they have no business being.

Morris will say Hamas is hell bent on the destruction of Israel, an that may be so, I don't know cause I don't follow Hamas doctrine but I think there's more to it.
There is more to it. Hamas's charter explicitly sets the goal of murdering every Jew in the Middle East. They're not merely interested in destroying Israel the state. They're an openly anti-Semitic group.

Jimmy Carter: Israel not following its own values

Carter's book is replete with lies, falsehoods, and he's been accused of plagiarism. The book is so far out there that a historian at the Carter Center resigned in protest over book which, he charges, is "replete with factual errors, copied materials not cited, superficialities, glaring omissions, and simply invented segments."

As one review puts it: "The anti—Israel bias is so clear, the credulous description of Arab positions so cringe—producing, the key 'facts' on which Carter relies so easily refuted by public documents, that the book is an embarrassment to Carter, the Democrats, the presidency and Americans." http://www.americanthinker.com/2006/11/the_world_according_to_jimmy_c.html

that kinda looks like Morris man..

LOL told ya he'd be here to save the day! what is a reputable source for you Morris? Obviously anything that or anyone that states a negative image or story of Israel is not reputable. So who is CNN? Fox? Steven Spielberg? grasping at straws? dude seriously they should hire you as the minister of propaganda! Every story or report is somehow diluted Israel is never in the wrong, I cant believe you even defend the murder of Rachael Corrie , calling it an accident , no an accident is when you bump into someone in the hall, or hit someones car in a parking lot, running another human being over with a bulldozer is not an accident, now you can say they were covering up a smuggling tunnel all you want, from what I have seen there was no tunnel only houses being demolished an even if there was a tunnel, you justify crushing another human being with a God knows how many ton piece of construction equipment? Then Israeli's refusal to send her remains back to the states to her family, why refuse? something to hide?

I already know your rebuttal "well eye witness accounts gave different stories as to what happened some, say she was standing up, others say laying down" yadda yadda , ok how many traumatic or horrendous acts have you witnessed in your life time dogg? I know I've seen a few, matter fact go down to your local police department and ask them about "eye witness accounts" I'm sure they'll tell you the stories always vary but the end result is always in conjunction with what everyone saw, ie someone gets shot, its witnessed by 3 people all three share a different account but the end result is the same victim shot an killed in cold blood. whether or not Rachel Corrie was standing, sitting or playing damn paddy cake is irrelevant she was run the fuck over BY A BULLDOZER!!!!!! AN then to top it off Israel refuses to relinquish her remains, that right there throws up a red flag my friend, what are you hiding? Anyway its pointless to argue anymore cause in your eyes Israel is always right 100% of the time an the entire Palestinian population are terrorists.

Actually her remains were shipped back to Olympia Washington five days after her death. From The Observer

"The hospital report says Corrie died from suffocation. Her ribs and left clavicle were broken. Her upper lip was lacerated. The doctors stitched up her face for the journey home to her grieving family on the other side of the world."

Anyway its pointless to argue anymore cause in your eyes Israel is always right 100% of the time an the entire Palestinian population are terrorists.
And the other side makes it out like every Israeli is a muslim hating murderer.

I stand corrected her parents asked for her remains to be cremated and returned on their way to being returned the ambulance with the remains was turned away an sent back. Still Glockmatic you dont see the irony? No one ever said us as "muslims" see every Israeli as a "Muslim hating murderer". Matter fact in any of our debates Muslim hasn't even been brought up , simply Palestinian and Arab.
