where can i adjust the settings to choose which programs i want to load when the computer first starts up
Usually when a program starts when windows starts it has been enabled to start in its (settings/preferences/properties). Quick time player for example to keep it from starting when windows starts you have to disable system tray icon under preferences. Most programs can be disabled the same way. Somwhere under settings, preferences or properties its usually labled diffent depending on the program. You will be able to uncheck a box or somthing to keep the program from loading when windows starts. Some older programs can be disabled by clicking start/programs/startup and then removing any icons or programs listed in the startup menu.

What program or programs are you trying to prevent when windows starts?
