Something needs to be done about the English.

How much of the world do these motherf***s own? Every day, I am learning about some country they have influence on or have had influence on.

Ask them today to let go of everything except England, and they'd refuse. Why? Its the question I've been asking myself for a long while. I haven't been able to understand why imperialists have such a hard time letting go of the land they stole.

I can't think of a single country that has touched on more continents than England. They've been probably been in more parts of the world than the Sun has been able to shine on.

Keep in mind I love the idea of large corporations but that's because corporations bought businesses and did so fairly. On the other hand, imperialists ravage the world looking for land they can steal.

England's reign of imperialism was a very long time ago though... in an age when empire building was the goal and not to mention, the norm for European states. France, in my opinion, rivalled if not excelled England because a significant proportion of what England gained was off the French while they were militarily preoccupied in Europe, (nothing like kicking a country when they are down, lol).

I dont know what you are talking about in regards to them refusing to let states go. The only reluctance I can think of off the top of my head is related to the US. They let go of India. They let go of Hong Kong and I have no doubt they would be more than obliging if Australia or New Zealand expressed a desire to be rid of the monarchy and form a republic.

The saying goes "The Sun never sets on the British Empire", of course that saying use to be "the sun never sets on the SPANISH empire" but the Spanish empire crumbled.

The legacy of the British Empire is still felt widely today no-where moreso than in my country where their imperialist policies led to poverty, bigotry and people like this:

Nevertheless to equate the English of today and the English of the past is asinine.

Ha, the British empire doesn't exist anymore...there's only the Commonwealth, not the empire. They own no colonies anymore.

It doesn't matter when it was done. It goes to show what these people are like.

I dont know what you are talking about in regards to them refusing to let states go.
Sure, all you had to do to become free was turn in a paper requesting freedom. I am no expert in history but what you're saying certainly as a foul odor. Freedom was never that easy.

We are not realllly an imperial force anymore are we now?
Its really easy to say "But it was our forefathers..." That's an easy way to blame someone else for what happened and still enjoy what they did for you. Now you have a lot of land in addition to England but you don't have to take blame for anything your forefathers did. Make up for what they did by giving up all land except England.

You, on the other hand....
I am not here to defend or criticise the USA.

You do realize that you live on stolen land right Pennypacker? As do I. Canada was a part of the British empire, but we managed to become free rather easily. In a technical way, we are still connected to them, but we are free to make our own decisions. Do you think if the Indians asked America to give back their land, they would get it back? I don't think so. It's easy to point fingers at others, but try looking at your own country before you talk about others.

The Brittish Empire was the world power in the 1900s. Their Empire shined from England all the way to India and more. So it's normal their influence is still seen to this day.

i think england should just lay back and enjoy their tea and croumpets and cucumber sandwiches because they've already established themselves as respectable country. i dont know why the want to be glued to the ass of the US
lmao. Never heard of cucumber sandwiches before. Rep'd. :D

Pennypacker, chill out, the English should give up what land? They barely own any "stolen land" anymore.

They want to be part of britain....it's their choice.
A certain (receding) portion do (who are in themselves descendents of people who illegaly invaded the region), the rest want unification with Ireland.

What was the 30-year conflict about but nationality?
