Situation around Man City

I read an article on a Dutch footy site and it got me thinking. Obviously, City has a shedload of moniez right now. That creates expectations, especially given the sums of moniez involved. Now, I am at the same time laughing and interested in City.

Laughing, because they're doing very poorly for a squad of their individual quality and pre-sheikh financiel status.

Interested, because I want to see how they're going to spend it to achieve their ambitions, and then second, how/if the coach(es) can mold them into a real team?

For the last part that something I've always credited Mourinho for. Abramovich may have brought Chelski wealth, but Jose did knead those players into a true team, must be said.

Anyway, thoughts on City? How much time should "we", as "the" footy critics in general, give them?

I'm a city symapthiser so I follow them more than others...

I'm not sure that Hughes has the right personality to manage a team full of super stars. That will be the main problem. If that's the case, they will be the Real Madrid of the Galacticos era. Then again, for City fans, a 2nd place finish for 3 seasons in a row wouldn't be too bad, knowing that a few years back they were playing in the third tier of English football.

When Chelsea won the league alot of people were saying that they only won because of Abramovich's money (usually sore loser man utd supporters). His money helped no doubt but Mourinho did a great job of turning a Chelsea team with great potential into champions. He made a couple of great signings to add to what was there already.

In reference to Chelsea: Yesterday i read that due to the financial crisis, Abramovitch lost 30 billion of his 33 billion € fortune. Holy crap.lol

I think he's intelligent enough to know that they won't break the top 4 next season. Still it depends on who they buy...

Hughes doesn't have the personality like Hizzle said. When I see Hughes, he doesn't seem confident, nor does his team seem to have confidence in him.

As for Abramovich losing all that money, not true, but I am pretty sure he lost a decent amount of cash due to the crisis.

I don't like Man City personally, they always reminded me of Man United's retarded ginger cousin. Not that I like Man U either... but there is still a lot of building to do in the club. I expect in the coming years to see a lot of quality players being shipped off for 'Superstars' that haven't proven themselves out of their respected leagues.

As a side note, am I the only one that feels Sven Goran Eriksson was doing a good enough job and should have been given more time? ... I remember Man City last season playing some great looking football.

^^they were up until February and then they fell apart. Thats why Eriksson was sacked.

I went to watch Man City at the start of last season. They beat Middlesbrough 3-1 and played them off the pitch. In the return fixture at the end of the season, Middlesbrough beat them 8-1. says it all really.

Wayne Bridge is a good signing. Michael Ball is rubbish.

Best thing about the whole thing was he later conceded a penalty after fouling C.Ronaldo, which he then scored and won the game :D
