I just want some opinions from people.

This is about a sport i play called hurling(irish sport).Last week the first round of the local u21 championship began.I trained extremely hard for this since christmas.Id say only missed 3 training sessions, and that was because i was sick.Im pretty good at the game.Nothing brilliant though.Good enough to be on the team.Im also 21 and will be overage for this category next year.So last week the first round game was on.I wasnt named in the starting team, even though i was better than at least 3 guys that did make the team.I was very dissapointed but i said i wouldnt do anything stupid.I just took my place on the bench.I expected to be the first sub on,which wouldnt be too bad.I ended up being the last and only got 5 minutes at the end.3 other guys came on b4 me,including one guy who missed loads of training.another guy was only 16.A pretty average player.i find out later that he is a nephew of one of the selectors.I stormed out of the dressing room afterwards and havent gone back since. They have since played a quarter final match.Im really dissapointed over this and think that one or two of the selectors have personal problems with but are too cowardly to say it out.Do u think i shouldve walked out?Would u have done the same?

Tell ya what i would'nt have done! Spat my dummy out, which sounds exactly what you done. Train hard and prove your quality so they have to play you.

Plus if there in the quarter finals, it seems to me that the coach got it spot on. Sorry.:)

the object of the game is to win,you obviously werent good enough for them to play you longer,or else they would have put you in.i suggest you dont pimp up your ego next time, this way you won't get disappointment, and do something girlish, like quit.

what ever happened to talking to people?

you should have scheduled a meeting and asked why you weren't picked, and what steps you can take to see more playtime. as a coach i wouldn't take you back if you were so quick to walk out. it sends a bad message to the team that can never be fixed.

The thing is this.I was good enough and i trained really hard.We have had drinking bans which i kept while others didnt.I mean guys that didnt bother training get on b4 me.Would u be happy with that?.Its not the first time this has happend either. There have been other times in the past where this coach has dropped me for unfair reasons.I probably shouldve rang him and asked him if he has a problem with me.I know they are in the quarters, but in fainess the team they beat were missing 3 of their best players and even missing does 3 couldve got a draw. They missed a rake of frees and some goal chances.

People are saying that i should go back and train harder. But i cant see how i can train any harder than i was..Is throwing my ring up in training not pushing myself hard enough?

No one owes anything to u, but this is politics as usual man. Ive delt with a similar situation in my life. I played travel baseball since i was around ten, and all the fathers would coach so their son got the most playing time. Its so obvious too. And then when u actually try and talk to the coach, they just give u some round a bout answer. But u know what the truth is.

Well you dont have to deal with that shit. Its ridiculous, and thats just the way people are. It makes me sick cause i know i suffered alot, wondering why you arent playing when u feel like u should be out there. Ur suffering so someone else can play, screw that. You put in a lot of time and hard work, u even said u cant train any harder, if they dont recognize that, then just pack ur things and leave. Its obvious that they dont want u there anyway.

Fuck em if theyre gonna play favorites.

For all the people saying go back, they most likely have not been in a situation like urs. You sound like the type of dude that just keeps his mouth shut and handles his business, and does what hes suppose to do. I know how it feels to have something unfairly taken away from u, and then get the sorriest excuse from the coach. Theyre obviously playing favorites. Its just not worth it to dedicate so much of ur time, to something that is just going to piss u off in the end. If the coach doesnt give u chance to prove urself (more than the last 3 mins that no1 pays attention to n e way), then why are u even on the team...to cheer, fuck that.

Try and join another team if at all possible.

The scary thing is,that post sums up the entire situation im dealing with. Its exactly how it is for me.Thanks for seeing from my point of view.

Yes i am a quiet person.I just get on with my training.I train hard.Harder than most and it is a major dissapointment when im not getting any rewards from it.And not get even a chance.fuck that. And yes these coaches have their favourites. My brother, who is also on the panel, kept telling me that he expected me to start the match. Now if he thought different he would say it straight.Other players i talked to said that they were surprised i wasnt playing.

And no i cant join another club.lol.It would be an offense worthy of hanging where i live.I love my club and i can still play other categories under different coaches.which i will more than likely do.

Thanks for your comment.

YOU think YOU are good enough, but obviously no one else (at least the selectors) think you are. You mentioned other people said they were surprised that you weren't in the team, but they might not have been the people that mattered, or you might not be being 100% honest with yourself. Politics in sport is a well known thing, so you should have half expected what happened and acted in a more mature manner.

Yes i felt i was good enough to make this team.Im 21 and i wont be eligible to play this grade next year.Im not big headed. This is my local club team im talking about. Its an amateur sport.I honestly expected to have started this game based on friendly games and training. When i wasnt playing i expected to be brought on earlier. This isnt being bigheaded or cocky its being real about.

Sorry i dont understand what you are saying here.I should have expected to be treated like shit and got on with it?Ive had enough of that over the years.
