SHAWN MICHAELS SAYS HE WILL BE AT THE WWE HALL OF FAME CEREMONY TONIGHT AND COMMENTS ON BRET HART
by Buck Woodward @ 3:05:00 PM on 4/1/2006

As part of the promotion for Wrestlemania, Shawn Michaels had an autograph signing session at Borders bookstore today, which had one of the best turnouts of any of the promotional appearances this week. Over 800 fans were reportedly turned away while somewhere in the neighborhood of 500-600 were able to get in during the allotted time. Michaels was said to be very pleasant, chatting with fans as he signed.

Several fans asked Shawn Michaels if he would be attending the Hall Of Fame ceremony tonight, and Michaels responded that yes, he would be at the Hall Of Fame. According to several sources at the signing, at one point Michaels asked a group of fans "Why wouldn't I be?" and one of them simply said "Bret".

Michaels responded that he doesn't have a problem with Bret Hart, "Bret has a problem with me". Michaels said he is "required" to be at the Hall Of Fame ceremony tonight, and he would be there.

i heard about cena gettin booed, austin came out when he inducted bret and said he lost a can of whoop ass that had hogans name on it and the crowd went crazy lol so maybe we're gonna get a hogan vs austin match in the near future?

Bret told a little story about owen pullin a prank on him and the crowd gave loud owen chant it was good to hear the fans still remember and show love to owen. Then he just thanked the fans and talked about his recovery from the stroke and said the day he fell out wit vince mcmahon, no matter what nobody else thought he made a promise to himself that if they ever invited him to do a hall of fame thing to get inducted that he would make sure he would be there. It was a good interview, kinda short tho i think they edited some parts off to make it fit the time slot on tv. it went about 5 mins over the time expected anyway but over all it was good to see bret back

Watched the first two hours online (can't sleep) but they're not showing the last hour over here. Means I have to miss Hart and Guerrero.
Paul Nemer, Adam Martin & Ryan Droste of WrestleView.com all attended the 2006 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony on Saturday night at the Rosemont Theatre. Here are some off-air news and notes from the taping...

There was loud "We Want Bret" chants at the beginning of the show.

Around 10 minutes before the ceremony began, all of the WWE superstars entered the theatre and took their seats on the floor in the first few rows from the stage. Triple H, Stephanie McMahon and Linda McMahon were the first out and sat in the front row.

As soon as Shawn Michaels was shown entering the theatre to take his seat, he was booed and greated with "You screwed Bret chants."

Of all the wrestlers that entered who sat on the first few rows, Batista by far got the loudest reaction. It was actually pretty amazing the reaction he got.

The inductions that took place off the air were The Blackjacks, Verne Gagne, Sensational Sherri, Tony Atlas and William "The Refrigerator" Perry. Bobby "The Brain" Heenan's induction of The Blackjacks went over well with the crowd. Heenan told the fans that under one lucky seat, there is a red envelope with backstage passes to WrestleMania 22 on Sunday night. He then reminded the crowd that it was April 1st (April Fools Day). Blackjack Lanza and Blackjack Mulligan went a little longer than I'm sure some fans would have liked, but it was a solid acceptance speech nonetheless.

Greg Gagne did a good job of describing his father's accomplishments with AWA. Verne took a few jabs at Vince McMahon, but it was in all good fun.

Ted DiBiase's induction of Sensational Sherri also got a solid reaction. DiBiase got a very loud pop and threw some money out to the WWE stars in the crowd. Sensational Sherri was very interactive with the crowd and had what was possibly the most entertaining speech of the night.

WWE Champion John Cena's induction of William "The Refrigerator" Perry was very interesting to say the least. Cena was booed to an insane amount. It got so bad at one point that you almost started feeling bad for him, but couldn't help from jumping in and giving him a hard time. Triple H also had a stare down with Cena from the front row and the fans were obviously way behind Hunter. Cena's introduction of Perry used an "NFL Films" style and was very funny. They showed numerous shots of WWE stars cracking up at it. A lot of the booing fans (or hypocritical as Paul Nemer called them) cheered him for the entertaining intro. Perry's acceptance was short and sweet and said it was a pleasure to be inducted.

S.D. Jones' induction of Tony Atlas went over great as well with Jones describing all of the weight lifting encounters he would put Atlas when they were overseas. Atlas praised the United States more than once and even pointed out a woman in the crowd who gave him a home when he was homeless in the early 1990s.

We then went to the taping for the USA Network featuring the inductions of Mean Gene Okerlund, Eddie Guerrero and Bret Hart.

The Bret Hart segment was around 20 minutes, but not all of it was shown on TV. He said a few Owen jokes and a couple of Neidhart jokes.

Aside from the emotional Guerrero induction and Bret Hart, Sensational Sherri's speech was the best one of the night. A lot of laughter and jokes there. Crowd was very much into it.

Hart, Hogan and Austin got the biggest pop of the night.

During Hart's speech, he was telling a funny story and happened to mention Hogan (in a good way) and a shot of Hogan was shown with a straight face. After the Hall of Fame went off the air, Bret shook hands with the majority of the people on the set, except Hulk Hogan.

Yeah it was a good Hall of Fame, I imagine they probably sent Shawn home during the last hour of the show. So the fans wouldnt stir up Bret while he was on stage, i noticed Vince wasnt there for Bret's speech either.

WTF was up with the camera guy showing the Mcmahons an HHH? every 2 minutes.

Eddie did have the night that was touching, i got all choked up when Vicki gave her speech. ( Imagine everybody else did too).

Missed Cena getting booed i bet that was hilarious

why don't hogan and hart like eachother?
Bret felt like hogan was holdin him back in the early 90's and he felt like he was a better wrestler than hogan.....theres more to the story than just that but i dont know the whole thing, he talks about it a little on his dvd

^he wasnt mad at hogan for that,he was mad at the wwf.back in 93,before hogan left,he didnt want to job to bret,so instead he dropped the title to yokozuna, and that's what this little beef is all about. It really isn't a big deal, hogan says he loves bret. Here's an article bret wrote in the newspaper few years ago about hogan.

Bret Hart's Calgary Sun Column
June 8, 2002

He hasn't changed a whole heck of a lot from the way he was the first time I met him back in ‘79.

The first time I met Terry Bollea we were both working for Georgia Championship Wrestling, which eventually evolved into the WCW. Back then he was known as Sterling Golden. He was very green . And
very impressive. On the day I left Atlanta to come home I knocked on his door to say good bye and told him if he ever wanted to learn to wrestle he was welcome to come up and work for my dad any time. He thanked me, and meant it, saying he'd keep it in mind. The next time I saw him was in Japan. He'd just shot his cameo for the Rocky III movie and was on the verge of mega - stardom that nobody could have even begun to imagine. Still the same guy.

When I started with the WWF, in August of ‘84, he was on his way to being , without question, the biggest name in the history of wrestling. I can remember, even during the glory days of Hulkamania, how Terry would come into the dressing room and say hi to every single wrestler. Every night he headlined there was a sell out and throughout the night all the wrestlers would come up to him and whoever his opponent was and thank them both for the house, for putting food on their tables and making wrestling something worth respecting.

I can say that Hulk Hogan was not only a hero to millions of Hulkamaniacs, but to all the wrestlers too. If Vince McMahon was Julius Caesar, then Hulk Hogan was Alexander the Great.

I remember one time at an airport, in about 1987, when Hulk signed one autograph after another to the point where it took him 45 minutes to get to the gate. They were closing the doors as he was boarding the plane and this one fan asked him for his autograph. He said apologetically, "I'm sorry, I can't, I'm gonna miss my flight ..." and he got on the plane. I was right behind him and I heard a bystander flippantly remark, "Just like I figured. I always thought he was a jerk." I thought to myself, that person has no idea how many autographs he just signed. Being a hero like Hulk Hogan it's hard to make everybody happy but for a guy that's been wrestling as long as he has he's certainly done a heck of a job.

Hulk was especially considerate of me when I joined him in the WCW.
I saw him a few days ago at Davey's funeral and despite the sad
backdrop it was nice to catch up on things. So then I opened up my paper and saw a picture of Hulk, taken in Calgary, with a fifteen year old girl named Amanda Marqniq who dreams of being a pro wrestler but needed a heart transplant.

It brought back what I remember most about Hulk Hogan, even more than his feats as a great wrestler. The countless times the office came to get him from the dressing room to make the wish of a sick or dying child come true. Despite the fact that he was pulled in too many different directions and had little time for himself or his family,Hulk always had all the time in the world for kids who needed him to be their hero. He somehow knew just the right things to say. It was never a burden to him. If anything, it gave him a sense of real purpose. I've always tried to follow his example.

In Friday's paper I read how Amanda has now gotten her new heart.I thought I might just give Hulk a call and let him know. He'd be happy to hear that.

Some things in wrestling have always been real and Hulk Hogan is one of them.
