Shakes

#1
Just wondering if anyone might know what might cause shaking in my hands - best way to describe it is like a nervous shake but minus the nervousness, lol. Just shaking in the fingers? I'm thinking it might be something to do with blood sugar levels (but if its high or low I dont know). Perhaps its something else entirely. It doesnt bother me much, only happens occasionally - just asking out of interest.

Trembling of the hands can be caused by low blood sugar yes.Try eating a sugary snack see if that helps,if not then it probably isn't the blood sugar.

You may also have a magnesium deficiency, which is why these trembles occur occasionally. It might be a mild case and nothing too severe.

It could also be a compressed nerve.I remember I once had shaky hands, and it turned out to be a compressed nerve in my arm.I had massages done and it went away.

I'm thinking maybe it can be a very mild case of an anxiety attack,i'm not sure.

I probably suffer from a little bit of anxiety but the timing seems more related to diet. A compressed nerve sounds scary. Sometimes at uni I get a bit slack and i might have a coffee or two without a solid meal, only snacks... so i get sugar just not much else. It's probably a good idea to make sure i am getting a more balanced amount of vitamins and minerals (inc magnesium) on a regular basis not sporadically which seems to be the case.

i know exactly what u mean. i get that sometimes after boxing its something every athlete gets it and the harder ur work out the more u will shake. sometimes after a really killer session i feel like i have parkinsons lol. dont worry about it its just blood pressure more blood builds up in ur veins and causes abit of movement. is it after u excersise or is it just anytime during the day coz if its just anytime randomly then maybe u should check that out go to the doctor but if its after exercise then dont worry bout it.

oh i didnt see that u wrote about drinking coffee. stop drinking coffee thats what it is. the caffeine causes ur blood pressure to rise which puffs up ur veins causing ur hands to shake.

I dont know that I want to though, caffeine has improved my performance. Helps keep me alert during those long hours of reading. Why is it bad though? I was talking to bigmack about energy drinks, which is where I often get caffeine and he said it wouldnt be damaging long term coz I was a bit concerned.

Hehe @ the thought of me on crack.

You need to make sure you eat, and not just sugar. Grab a sandwich.

Don't worry about caffeine too much. We all do stuff that is bad. I drink loads of alcohol, that's my vice.
