Technology Ripping In VBR

I was thinking of re-ripping my albums in VBR instead of the default CBR, but there are some options I don't get.

VBR methods are:
default
old
new
MTRH and
ABR

which should I choose for best results? (also a quality scale of 0-9 is there, which is better?)
