Technology Ripping Cassettes

I have a bunch of tapes that I would like to rip, but I don't know how :-/

Does anyone have any kind of experience with ripping tapes and can help me out?
The problem is not actually ripping the tape. I can easily do that, but the problem is adding the Bass (EQ) later on. For some reason I am never able to add the bass, and as a result the songs sound kinda hollow. Is there some sort of a trick to it? or am I using the wrong program (I use GoldWave).

Use Cool Edit Pro to fuck around with the sounds, you should be able to get it to sound decent, there's a good hiss remover, you can remaster them well in there too.

connect your tape player to your PC (connect it to where you would connect your mic). get a software, like GoldWave. Hit play on the tape player & hit Record in the software.

That's the first software I ever downloaded to rip tapes. It gets rid of the hiss like no other, but it can't add the bass that well. It sounds good on your PC, but once you soot it up to your I-Pod/Net MD, you realise it doesn't really have bass :/

NO CLUE! probably the cheapest one lol. When I bought it from The Source, I just asked them for a cable to connect it to my PC & he brought me one, it wasn't even in a wrapper. Here it is, if it helps:

Edit: Im beginning to think that the problem is with my hardware.

Standard "small jack" cable, with the same connector at both ends. One end goes into the headphone section of your tape player, the other end goes into the mic socket of the PC.

Lok, yeah I did notice that about Cool Edit Pro....not sure what to suggest other than that as I don't really rip cassettes often...you should be able to find a decent audio plugin to boost the bass, put it into the right folder and you will be able to use it in Cool Edit Pro.
