Okay we've had a team of the season thread so lets have a more general overview one now. I'm gonna put down my main suggestion for each category and then another one that people maybe wouldn'y have thought of. If anyone thinks of another category to add then feel free to do so.

Player of the season:
Club of the season:
Manager of the season:
Goal of the season:
Game of the season:

Heres my suggestions.

Player of the season: I just can't see past Lionel Messi. The star man for Barca in a season where they win the treble. Scores 38 goals in 51 games.

My other suggestion would be Diego Forlan. Won the European Gold Boot and the Pichichi scoring a remarkable 32 goals in 33 La Liga games.

Club of the season: Again it's gotta be Barcelona, not much more can be said about them.

My other choice is Stoke (no laughing please). I honestly thought they would go straight back down but they survived pretty comfortably. The football they play is horrible to watch but fuck its effective and thats what counts.

Manager of the season: Pep Guardiola.

Aside from Pep i'll go with Laurent Blanc. Finally someone has knocked Lyon off their perch in Ligue 1 and it was Blanc's Bordeaux who done this, playing some nice football along the way.

Another shout must go to Louis Van Gaal.

Goal of the season: My personal choice would be Pedro Mendes goal against Celtic back in August

My other choice would be Ronaldo against Porto, he may be a cunt but he can strike a ball aswell as anyone in world football.

Game of the season: Again my personal choice would be Rangers beating Dundee Utd 3-0 to win the league :D

Aside from that i'll go for both Barcelona-Atletico Madrid games. The first one at the Nou Camp was the best display of football i've seen this season by Barcelona and they were unlucky not to get into double figures.

The second one was even better than the first, 2 great teams playing attacking football. The game was one by a Kun Aguero goal in the 89th minute.

Lets hear everyones choices.

Player of the season:

Worldwide, like you said, you can't get around Messi.

Shouties to Dzeko and Ibisevic. Dzeko was on fire and I would've loved to see how Ibisevic would've done hadn't he gotten injured.

Club of the season:

Barca. Hands down

Shoutie to Hoffenheim.

Coach of the season:

Not Guardiola imo. Too soon to proclaim him a genius and look at the material he got to work with.

Blanc is a good choice.

Goal of the season:

Hmmm, tough one. I'll go for Grafite's last vs. Bayern Munchen. A goal that humiliates Bayern so much is bound to do well in my book.

Game of the season:

Chelsea and 'Pool in their epic 4-4 slugout.

Player of the season: Messi, no doubt about that. How about some love for Xavi also? He's been great this season. Shoutie to Dzeko, he eats Christians by the dozen. :p

Club of the season: Barcelona no doubt, shoutie to Hoffenheim for surprising.

Manager of the season: I know some are gonna say, wtf, but Roy Hodgson of Fulham. Last season they barely made it out alive, now they're in Europe with a team that seems to give its all no matter what. Shoutie to Blanc though.

Goal of the season: Grafite raping Bayern. Enough said

Game of the season: Personally, I'd say us (Hajduk Split) beating Dinamo Zagreb at home, but, bias aside. Chelsea 4 - 4 Liverpool, great game.

PS: DPG, I'm surprised Pedro Mendez scored that goal. He always did those long shots at Pompey. Most of his goals look like that lol

Player of the season: Has to be Messi with Gerrard, Xavi and Iniesta behind him

Club of the season: It has to be Barcelona. AZ Alkmaar and Wolfsburg deserve mentions as well

Manager of the season:
Guardiola. what a first season. Magath, Van Gaal get a mention as well.

Goal of the season: Im gonna say Iniesta v Chelsea. It was a great strike but how important was that goal? and you have to consider the stage, the timing of it and the opponent. A lesser player would have sliced it into Row Z.

Game of the season: Liverpool 4 Man Utd 1 was just so sweet.

Liverpool v Arsenal and Liverpool v CHelsea were great from a neutral point of view.

Player of the season: Messi, although I was also impressed with Forlan.

Club of the season: Barcelona but I liked Genoa, they had a whole new starting 11 and almost made it to the Champions League

Manager of the season: Juan Muniz, leading Malaga to 8th was pretty impressive. Though Pep should get credit for turning Barca around into the best team in the world.

Best Goal: Grafiti against Bayern.

Game of the season: I enjoyed the Milan derby in which Inter won 2-1, but for simply goals and lack of any defending, pretty much any Atletico Madrid game, probably the most entertaining team in Europe.

Fuck Genoa though. they nearly came 4th in a very mediocre league after buying a few players. Its no big achievement to finish 5 th in Serie A now imo. Sampdoria finished 5th last season and also a few seasons back. Sampdoria cant progress past the 1st or second round of UEFA Cup. Hodgson bringing Fulham into the UEFA Cup is a much bigger achievement imo.

Sampdoria didn't give a flying fuck about the UEFA cup, who actually does apart from the Germans?

Sevilla failed to make it past the first round also, only 1 team out of Serie A, La Liga and the Premiership made it to the last 16. Thats how much they care about it.

I just think that outside 3 or 4 teams, that serie a is pretty mediocre. The fact that Inter are well out in front as the best team says it all.
