I don't know if you played RE4 Preach, but that shit happened ALL THE TIME. It was insane, the game was successful in scaring the shit out of me. and being one of the greatest games of all time, IMO.
yeah played it through to the end once. now that i think about it i'm tempted to pop it back in. there were additional episodes i didn't finish and i almost feel like playing through it again.
yeah i remember one big dude you fight in a shaft, some sort of gate between two smaller valleys or something. you're in a confined area with woodwork all around you. when i first came to that encounter i was so fucked up from having played the game for a while already that i had to just quit playing for a while to calm my nerves lol. also, when you're barricaded in that house with some dude and the zombies come through the windows and down the stairs. that shit was intense.
i also started playing code veronica x a few months ago, but quit about 1/3rd into the game. i'll pick it back up again, but i remember being scared from that game as well.
one thing i just wanna hear thoughts on is the game mechanics for the fourth game. they changed the physics engine, so the game looks different, and the zombies behave differently. i'm not sure how much i liked it. the thing with these games is that the more things i don't like, the better the game, but i still find myself sitting there hoping nothing too scary is gonna happen while playing lol. like when zombies speed up and run towards you for a while, then slow down again. so when you have five zombies coming at you, suddenly two of them will start running towards you while the other three keep walking slow. once they're no longer in a straight line it's so fucking difficult to keep my cool so i can aim and shoot them down one at a time. normally i panick and go crazy with the gun. this next title seems to be an enhancement of the engine and mechanics from the fourth game, leaving more of the elements from the older games behind, at the same time, newer elements are introduced. i felt that some of the good old resident evil feel was absent in the fourth game. one last thing is that i really hate how the fourth game looked. pretty much all the game zones were boring to me. i disliked the whole setting in central europe. hoping the desert scenario is gonna work better for me. honestly, i miss raccoon city and mansions.
