Refs Practice 'Cracking Down' During Minnesota TimberWolves Game

#1
As if there weren't enough whistles during the games:

Referee James Capers gave Blount a technical foul when he threw his arms up and kicked his leg in frustration after being called for a touch foul in the third quarter.

Jaric picked up a demonstration technical from Olandis Poole in the fourth when he pounded the ball with his fist after a foul call.

"Last year that definitely would not be a technical foul," Jaric said. "I don't understand if (the NBA) wants players to be emotional or you want us to be robots out there and play. It's always like, 'Oh players are too emotional,' or 'Players are too cold and don't care.'

Garnett expressed frustration with stricter enforcement of dress codes, including limiting the length and number of wrist and arm bands a player can wear, in addition to the new policing of emotion.

"That's not basketball," Garnett said. "This league is about basketball, guys who can play it at the highest level. We shouldn't be worried about this nit-picky (stuff)."

I agree with KG, the commish is taking this way too far. He's a dictator. Next thing you know, he'll be telling the players what they can and can not eat, give them a curfew, and ban them from peeing in the shower. He's way out of line

It's as if David Stern has this idea of making basketball a real gentlemen sport. Like Polo, or something. I am frustrated by this.

yes. it sucks. simply as that. I want to see emotions, I dunno why they change all the rules (no defense, no emotion, no trash talk) - noone wants to see this.

I think he's an idiot. That new ball is fucking shit.
The players don't like the new ball - leads me to one question - why do they have a new ball? What is the reason? And after all, shouldn't the ball rather be a players decision than....whoever for whatever reasons decided to play with this new ball... ???

I know that they aren't using leather anymore, but I'd really like to hear the "dumass" reason, cause - I don't understand it. All the players don't like the new ball, as far as I know - why can't they decide with what ball they wanna play? David Stern really acts like a dictator, I hope this guy retires soon.

The reason given for the new ball is because leather, once accumulating sweat from the players throughout the game, would become slippery and cause a great deal of preventable turnovers late in the game.
