Read if you love sports..

As many of you are quite aware, it would seem that the NHL season will be cancelled. (perhaps the people overseas are unaware) Because of the lack of understanding and agreement between the players and the league, fans all across North America, mainly Canada ;), are being punished by the loss of a sport. Obviously this affects everyone in a different way. To most American sports fans, they haven't missed hockey at all, and quite frankly don't care if the season is over, and probably couldn't care if the whole league shut down.

Anyways, today I was thinking about the whole situation, and I questioned whether or not I lost respect for the sport I love so much. I'm a huge hockey fan, and though I miss it, I haven't missed it as much as I thought I would.. I could go on.. but here's my question..

If a league you adore, had a strike because of money and contract disputes, and an entire season was cancelled, what would your feelings be towards the players and the league? Would you watch the sport once it came back? Would you lose respect for the players? What would it take to get you back into the sport?

I'm not speaking in terms of the NHL, but if this happened with MLB, NBA, NFL, or any other sporting league..

Like to hear your thoughts

Peace

it dissapoints me when i hear bout tha nhl. tha players want more money so they don't wanna cap. it proves hockey has lost it's roots. it's startin to turn into other sports. all tha fucking players want one thing, money that's all they care about any more. tha nhl players should be ashamed, getting a fucking season cancelled because they were bitching about money

If football leagues shut down, I'm pretty sure there would be,

1. Riots
2. Murders
3.Suicides
4. Murders made to look like suicides
5. More gay men than ever in the streets on former match days
6. Pub fires (arson for the insurance - they'd have lost a shitload of cash)
7. Awkward silences at family gatherings where football would've usually been discussed (the shut down could be discussed for about half an hour & then the topic would be dead)
8. A lot of rich men sitting at home watching Trisha (This Morning is too intellectual)
9. A follow-on from 8., a lot of rich men sitting at home thanking God that Kilroy is no longer on TV (That amount of brain stimulation would surely have killed them)
10. A lot of unsatisfied housewives (No more quickies from the handymen - Desperate Housewives style)

And a bunch of other things.

Damn! I just wrote a bunch of shit. Oh well, another classic post which, by the time you've read it, will probably make you realise I am good at wasting time (yours & mine)

I don't think the NHL is the biggest loss though I would have liked to see how far the San Jose team would have got anyways I would be pretty mad if I lost a season of the NBA or soccer especially over greed because I think its a petty dispute.
