I have a question for christians

I will use Pope John Paul as an example, when he passed away ive heard many Christians on T.V, Radio or from friends say 'it was his time to go and he is now in heaven with the Lord'. no different than when a rapist or a convicted murderer is put to death, christians are quick to jump and say 'he is now burning in hell for what he did'.

In Islam we believe that every human being whos life ceased to exist will neither enter heaven or hell, at least not until the day of judgement, in other words those that die will remain in their grave, when that day arrives every soul will come back to life to face his/her creator to be judged, hence the name 'day of judgement'.

Now my question is, when a human being passes away does he or she go straight to Heaven or Hell? If that is the belief among christians then what is the point of Judgement day? how does a person go straight to heaven or hell before being judged on the day of judgement? will a 'suspected' murderer await trial or will he be sent to prison without one?

thats it for now

Like a moth to the flame, I am back in a religious thread...*sigh*

The main problem with trying to find answers from the bible is that there are so many different translations, and, of course, every sect of the religion believes their translation is "the word of god". So, while you might have a question that can be readily answered by the bible, you could get drastically different answers from different translations. For argument's sake, let's say that christianity is the one true religion as commanded by a supreme being, it would still be impossible to know which translation was correct, unless you could find the absolute original texts, which would also be corrupted by years of being verbally passed down. So, any place that uses bible verses to answer anything (other than questions about said verses) is bunk.

That's not even broaching the subject of any validity of the bible, how it was written for much simpler times, etc. I just don't have the have the energy to go into a diatribe about that.

how about, dont take everything in the bible so literaly, its ment to be philasophical(its 3 in the mrnng my spelling sucks) and metaphoric. do u go to heaven or hell? no one knows, its all in your head imo. back then people thought that god lived in the sky and the heavens were in the clouds. well people back then werent that smart. we know today that the idea of heaven being in the clouds is bullshit.

does any one know if there is a religion that takes science and christianity and blends them together some how? that's what we need people a religion based around the bible and science, then maybe we could get some answers about god.

was jesus really born dec 25th? back in that time one day to people was really a month since they recorded a full day by every new moon.

It's pretty certain that Jesus (if he existed, even that's debatable) was not born on december 25th. That just has became the accepted date.

However, you are completely correct, the bible should be taken as metaphors and such. I believe that would have been the original point of the religion, but the evil of man has perverted it so far from that, it's truely unbelievable. Also, another point that's fun to point out to anyone whoe believes that any religion is the "true" religion....Greek and Roman mythology was once considered "the truth" and now it's relegated to being thought of as almost comical. 2000 years from now, I feel alot of religions that we now have will be taught in much the same fashion. The first person who can tell me why they believe in Jesus, the christian god, etc, yet think that the idea of Thor throwing lighting bolts to earth is preposterous will truly amaze me.

As for your question of a religion to combine christianity and science, there really is none as they pretty much are the antithesis of each other. Unfortunetly, the best option is to learn about each religion (a heresy to many religion, which should show you that they are more cult-like than anything), learn about science, and believe what you want to. Not one person has the answers, no matter what priests and popes would say. However, for people to ever realize this, they would have to do some actual thought, and being spoon-fed easy to swallow answers from a story book is much easier than trying to figure out life. Without some book telling you that you are a wonderful miracle, you might find out you are just a carbon based lifeform for a speck of time of the universe, on a non-descript planet, orbiting a 'normal' star. If you let that sink in, you might realize that a religion cheapens that fact that you only get a finite time on this planet.

I have to disagree here somewhat. (Welcome back, by the way, thought u were gone for good.)

Most translations say the same thing but phrase it differently. But not enough to come away with a different meaning. However, the whole meaning of many things in the Bible, whatever translation is used, is vague enough to be interpreted in different ways by different sects. So the problem comes with interpretation and not the translation.
