Technology Question about Internet Explorer

#1
Ok, apparently there's two different IE's on my comp. There's one that says Internet Explorer Q867282 on my add/remove programs list that I don't remember ever seeing there before until recently. Then there's Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP1 and tools that I definately know I downloaded. My question is, where did the Q867282 come from if I didn't download it and can I remove it without messing anything up?
Also, my Java won't work and it says that it'll work with IE 6, which I have but is the Q867282 causing it to not work?

Thanks.

Q867282 is a cumulative security update for IE see link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;867282

Also In Internet Expleorer I want you to click Help and then click About Internet Explorer. It should say Version: 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040802-2158
If it dosent say somthing like this then I recommend you updating to SP2

You can download the latest version of here
JAVA 1.50 Update 2 http://javashoplm.sun.com/ECom/docs...5.0_02-oth-JPR&SiteId=JSC&TransactionId=noreg

Make sure you uninstall your previous version of java before updating. Should fix your java problem.

Here's a question for you: Why are you using Internet Explorer???
First of all, its highly unsafe due to Spyware, Adware, etc. Virus' and all sorts of shit. That thing you're talking about is what makadon said, a security update. I have an ilegal copy of windows too so its no problem, you just can't update from Service Pack 1 over to SP 2. But Sp2 supposedly is more vulnerable than SP1. So just download all your SP1 updates and switch to Firefox

Thanks everyone for the help.
I found out why I can't run Java. When I got a virus and had to reinstall Windows, the only thing I had available to me at the time was 98 First Edition and Java won't run on it. So until I can get a Second Edition disk, I can't use Java.
But thanks anyway for the help.

I have an old comp and it won't support XP, not enough RAM or hard drive space. So until I can afford a better one, I'll hafta stick to what I got. I do wish I could at least get ahold of a 98 Second Edition disk though so I can at least play games and shit, but oh well. Broke ass people hafta use what they can afford lol

Yeah SE is the best 9X version. Other than 95 OSR2.1. I have almost every windows OS except for some of the server editions. Sombodies allways selling 98se's on ebay and got mine off of somone there for cheap. 98se is still the best gaming OS. XP is good becuase you can run games in compatibility mode with 98se you don't have to.
