PlayStation 3 Pricing Announced
Sony has announced that it’s next-generation console, the 40 gigabyte PlayStation 3, will sell for at least US$499 when it comes out in November this year. The 60 gigabyte edition will cost even more in the US, priced at US$599.
The prices are much higher than that of Sony’s rival, Microsoft’s Xbox, which sells for US$299 or US$399 if bought with a hard drive. The PlayStation 3 is equipped with IBM and Toshiba’s “Cell” processor, which 35 times faster than the PS2.
It is also about double the speed of the new Xbox 360. Technical difficulties have delayed the release of the PS3, which had been initially set to release this month.
