Technology problems with DVD

recently i got dvd player/recorder, model panasonic dmr-es10, it's from usa, but i'm from europe. when i checked in the internet, it was mentioned it supports multiformat, but as far as i understand now, it plays only region 1 and NTSC :( that's bad, cause in europe we got PAL. question: is there any way to change the region for my player that it could play and support all formats. i know that in notebooks it is possible to change (brake) dvd regions to your desirable format. the other question when i insert regular cd with movie i've reorded from my pc, this dvd player says "unsuppoorted" how can this be possible? it has dvd-ram but cannot play vcd? it played my mp3 discs though.
and also when i tried region 1 dvd it played but without video, only sound, what's wrong here agains, can it be because of difference between my tv's system pal and dvd player's system ntsc? waiting for your response :

it doesn't play your dvd-ram because you're still trying to force it to play 25 fps instead of 29.97. if your player isn't pal now, it never will be.

wel, you're not 100 % right. there are player which are multiformat so it means they support pal, ntsc, secam.. you just need to add decoder or something like that. i tried region 1 dvd, it plays on my pal tv, but only in black and white. there are also multiformat tvs. i know region changing is also possible. but the price i bought cheaper from usa, will prolly go even higher (changing to fit here) to what i'd have payed in here.
it's only strange why player says "unsupported" on regular pc recorded cds.

multiformat = DVD±R/RW, DVD-Ram, CD-r, etc, not region or TV standards, my parents have a tv (in the us) and it's like 19 years old and it's pal and thats the newest tv we have, and it plays anything you hook up to it, just crops more of the image out, ntsc = widescreen, pal = fullscreen from what i've been told and ratio-wise pal = 4:3 usually and ntsc usually = 16:9, and region codes can be changed by adding a memory chip to the circuit board on the dvd player as long as it says it is supported, but i would not recommend doing it, besides it'd prolly be cheaper to just buy a different region player.

Muti-format is different to multi-region.

It doesn't mean it will play all the regions.

For example. A multi-format DVD player I looked at could play DVD, DVD-R, VCD, CD-R. etc.

Most T.V's play both NTSC and PAL formats. If it doesn't, then no offence, but you have 1 old shit TV.

And I'm guessing that your DVD player doesn't support VCD, that's why it won't play back the movies, either that or it won't play CD-R's. Or You haven't recorded it in the correct format for the DVD player to recognise it, which is the answer I'd guess to be most likely.

And check the post above, getting rid of the region code is a piece of piss. And no problem at all.

VCD's are never NTSC or PAL.They will play regardless of what format your tv or dvd player is.

Now,if its SVCD,then it will be encoded in either PAL or NTSC.

If its a VCD and it doest work, then you recorded it wrong because that dvd player supports VCDs.

Also, that DVD player is multi format so it will play PAL and NTSC , BUT if your TV is PAL and not multi format, then it wont play an NTSC disc,so that must be the problem.

and since the dvd player is not multi region, you need that remote that Illuminatile gave the link to.

i understand this, but how could i record my cd wrong that dvd player could not revognize it, i know player should play it.
also, my tv is not that old, but seems it doesn't have ntsc, only pal. that's why at the moment i can only play region 1 ntsc discs, but it goes non colour, cause of tv (pal system) tv with with available ntsc format could play it good (i tried on this one) but still if my dvd player is ntsc (like what it is now) i couldn't record any tv program to dvd because tv programs goes on pal, what player doesn't support.
so, as you've said now, i will try to find where to change region. there's only one question left, is it possible to change format (only to play dvds i don't need it, but with this situation to record tv prgrams is impossible) from ntsc to pal, or even make it multi-format, i know there are players that have it...sad that this pretty much new player doesn't have it...
or is anyone more aware about this specific dvd player i've mentioned in my first post?

your player is multi format,so you should be able to record and play tv programs on it. maybe theres a setting you have to change to pal from the dvd recorder itself.read the manual and see if it says how to do that

The picture is black and white because your TV cannot handle NTSC.

And it sounds like you have burned the DVD incorrectly, that is why it won't play.

today i went to panasonic serivice center. they got exarctly the same model but for european market, that one is multi format, but american one, which i have isn't. so, to make that it could play all region dvds is easy, they'll also add a part which will make my player multi format (able towork in pal).
sad is that it doesn't play divx movies, how can i burn those movies onto regular cd that my player could play, is this possible?
