OK well if you guys can try to ignore the fact that most of us probably watch some pornography now and then (some more than others), what is it that really makes pornography different enough from prostitution that they deserve to be treated differently in they eyes of the law? To me it seems, if a woman (or man) is getting paid for sex, she's getting paid for sex, I don't see why the purpose of the sexual act makes a difference. Somebody explain this to me, if you agree with me, elaborate on why you think it is this way.

Oh yeah, no pics. Got y'all good.

I don't think that is what he is talking about. People don't die in front of the camera, but they do have sex in front of the camera.

What is the difference of being paid to have sex in front of a camera and being paid to have sex in a car?

Legally? I believe it's because a prostitute is paid by a client to sexually gratify said client, whereas a porn star is paid to perform sexual acts to gratify a third party (the person who watches the porn film/buys the porn mag). It's complicated, perhaps Amara or someone who's studying law can clear it up.

Morally? In principal there's not too much difference. Personally I don't see anything inherently wrong with prostitution. There are practical issues with it - which is why pimping and kerb crawling and the like are illegal in the UK, while prostitution itself isn't - which aren't a problem with pornography.

Prostitution laws is complicating because it's different everywhere. In the U.S., paying anybody for sexual services is classified as a misdemeanor. From my knowledge and Wikipedia's.

actually, most (female) pornstars fake orgasm in porn movies...

anyway, i think i have to know the argment against prostitution in order to know te difference. i know it's legal in some states so technically, you can shoot a porn movie where prostitution is legal. I don't know if you can make a porn movie anywhere.

besides, the difference is that, prostitution is defined as offering sexual favors for Cash. in porn, you're not paid to have sex, but rather to be filmed while having sex.

Prostitution is illegal in California where 90% of the States major porno films are shot. Which is of course the L.A. vincity.

prostitution should be legal, as simple as that - cause you can't control it anyway, it's been there forever and you're fightin a war that you can't win plus to make it legal actually helps the women in their job, then they have at least some rights protectin them, which isn't the if the whole biz is illegal.

Heres my question - how can being a hooker be illegal but a porn star isnt? consider that the porn star has contracts that she / he has to fullfill and I'd imagine in each contract they specify what sexual acts need to take place ; or else they could make the actors do what ever as almost a slave of sorts..so if it's a contract to take money for sex wouldnt that mean it's illegal with proof? almost like signing a contract to sell heroine?

porn and prostituion are not different. honestly, folks this can only be two things far as i can see. it's either some racist (it's good when white folks do it) tyep shit or the government is some how and some way making big off of this.

The bunny ranch owner is a pimp, the owner of vivid is a pimp, larry flynt is a pimp, Hu-fuckin-Heifner is a pimp bilogmist damn near(sp?) and these muthafuckas swear it's alright. it's fashionable. it's hip. it's cool. it's classy.

but for some reason, i can't spend my lil hundered bucks on a stripper that'll do whatever the fuck i want?! Bullshit!!

Prostitutes are black, porn stars are white?

no, no, i'm saying as in general something about it could be a racist plot. just throwing options out there.

i'm not big on conspiracy theories, but the way law treats other forms of prostituion (madams and what not) and porn just doesn't add up. personally, i go for the goverment conspiracy idea. it makes no sense to condemn one but allow the other.
