Here we go again.
The PS3 HASNT been proved more powerful, early Tech Demos are always bullshit, the PS2 never reached its early tech demos, neither did the Xbox or Game Cube.
The Xbox hardware isnt known yet completely and neither is the PS3s, the PS3 will probably have a faster CPU but Xbox will prob have a better GPU, other than that they will probably have very similar multi core structures.
Anyway, what the fuck does any of this have to do with the thread?

Ill probably end up getting both to be honest, the X2 will have better Live play than the PS3.
no live play even mentioned yet, we'll see sony have been working on that too

its in all the magazines man, and all over the net that the sony console has more power than xbox 2, i havent read it saying anywhere about xbox 2, sony has the cell processor confirmed and fitted, the cell processor is on of the most advanced processors available

Yes but there are other things to consider than the CPU in this generation.
The way things are set up, is the Cell processor may be the most powerful CPU in the race, but it will be handling a lot of the graphics processing for the PS3, while the X2 GPU will do all the graphics freeing up its CPU for other tasks.
Its not just raw numbers this time around. We'll see when the time comes though.
And theres no way Sony can catch up with the MS Live online system, thats like saying Microsoft can catch up on the Japanese market. It just wont happen.
