Technology PAL to NTSC DVD conversion

#1
ok, so i am currently downloading DVD replicas of the Indiana Jones Trilogy (for those who don't know, although the name should say it all, a DVD replica is an exact rip of a DVD with menus, special features, etc., everything you'd find on the retail disc). however it is in PAL format and, living in North America as i do, i need NTSC format. i did a google search and found out about a "patch method" to convert from PAL to NTSC and vice versa which i'm going to try. what i was wondering is, has anyone used this method before, and if so, how well does it work? what are other methods of doing this, and what works best? this is the site i got the info for the patch method from: http://forum.videohelp.com/topic221928.html. any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

get a dvd player that plays both. i got one for 35 bucks at walmart.
well from what i've heard those don't always work all that well, and dammit, i just bought a nice new DVD/home theater system, i don't wanna go out and buy another one lol. plus converting it is free and easier. unless you do the recode method which is pretty much guaranteed to work but is long and more complicated than i have patience for.

like the previous thread where we discussed divx, most new dvd players are region free and pal/ntsc compatible. i have hundreds of ntsc dvds that play fine. and from what i learnt about pal/ntsc is the refresh rate of the cathode tube, which doesnt apply on lcd screen and only old tvs.

well my DVD player did specifically say it only plays NTSC. however, the file i downloaded was an .img file, and as an experiment i burned Raiders Of The Lost Ark as is and it plays fine on my DVD player. so i guess this thread is a moot point lol.

I bought a region-free DVD player about 2 years ago and since then I buy the majority of my movies from the US when I am there, or get my in-laws to ship them over. I must have bought about 40 DVD's when I was in Portland last, lol.
