As Johnny Damon was still deciding whether to defect to the Yankees, he leaned on some stunning advice from Manny Ramirez, Damon and his wife told The Post yesterday.

Before Damon agreed to his four-year, $52 million contract, he spoke by phone to Ramirez for some guidance.

Even though Ramirez still is under contract with the Red Sox, he urged Damon over to the other side of baseball's best rivalry.

"Manny said, 'You should go to New York,' " Michelle Damon told The Post.

Johnny Damon confirmed the conversation.

i dunno much about the baseball owners...none are really brought out a whole lot...just steinbrenner....he's been pretty loyal, right?

but yeah, at some point, your team is no longer your family...the red sox family is kinda obligated to dislike the yanks...look where damon goes...for what?? money?? was the red sox team not the team with the best chemistry?? what about taht sourpuss, manny??? what a bastard...i got a whole lot to say about it, i just gotta think of more players that left their teams to go the rivalling team...thats just one type of business BS that pisses me off....there's always just money...that's just loyalty...

Damons move to Yanks was no question unloyal. he went where he saw bigges contract was offered to him. it was only i believe 10 million difference between Yanks and Sox offer. i say only because for people like Damon 10 million is nothin. but not only that but another reason i think he moved to Yankees is because i think he wanted to help Yanks get a ring and have people talk about him how he helped two best teams in baseball at same time. what i mean by that is that he knows the history between these two teams and specially last couple years. he knows since 01 Yanks haven't won tittle and in 04 sox finally won tittle after all the battle they went through with Yankees through these years. so now that he helped Red Sox get a ring first time in almost 86 years which was a big story for Boston, now he wants to play big role in Yanks success next year so then people can point a finger at him saying 'see Joohnny the ex rival Red Sox player was the guy who got us a ring when Jiambi, shefield one of the baseballs best hitters and A-rod couldn't do it, but Johnny did'. so then people can be talking about him. thats why he makes interviews like 'oh, im the best lead off hitter so best team needs best lead off hitter and Yanks definetly got that now'. he basically making a name for himself for future. thats how i think about Damons move to Yankees. i think its begger then just money.

Yea of course me too. its always 'i cant wait for next year' thing when you on offseason. but you need to have something to cheer about and some hope going in next year. not just 'as long as i watch baseball' attitude.

Now that i think about it this years Blue Jays could be last years Tampa Bay who gave us Yankees hard times. a little team you wouldnt think can compete with Yanks Tampa gave us hard times by beating us last year and same thing could happen with Jays this year.
So, whats happening? Yanks haven't won a tittle since 01 and since that year they have been improving each year and still no tittle. meantime..while Yankees buying all these big time players and tryna prove, other low key teams like Tampa and Jays now are who were very bad teams now start to compete themselves and they start to pick up some players and they dont just seat there and have Yankees beat them nomore. so, now not only you (Yankees) have to be better then what you were last year but you also need to keep in mind that other teams in your same division (Blue Jays and Tampa) are competing just as much as you are so you kinda need to double up so to speak your offseason moves. another words Blue Jays and Tampa and i forgot to mention Orioles too arent easy teams to beat anymore as they were in 01. as you improving your team at very same time your oppopent on the other side of the bridge is improving his team just as much so you need to watch out.
