10. Katamari Damacy (2004)
With the most bizarre opening cinematic I've ever seen, game play that is only rolling anything into a giant ball, using just the joysticks. You can roll policemen, screaming school children, and skyscrapers into your ball. What's the plot? When the King of All Cosmos accidentally destroys all the stars in the sky, he orders you, his pint-sized princely son, to put the twinkle back in the heavens above. How, you ask? By rolling everything and anything on earth into clumps, so he can replace what's missing in space. It's addictive, and left me with the conclusion that the Japanese have really good crack.
9. Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves (2005)
Sly 3 provides you with a truly excellent gaming expierence, one of the best platforming games out there, Hell it even features a Quadriplegic turtle. Fans of the previous Sly titles and those gamers looking to play a new and interesting game that allows them to go through a variety of missions and character stories will find it in Sly 3 Honor Among Thieves.
8. Ico (2001)
A truely innovative game with suberb gameplay and a charming story. Ico is about a young boy trying to escape his imprisonment in a large, vacant castle. Along the way, he discovers another captive. A beautiful princess named Yorda, whom he tries to rescue. The graphics are beautiful and is complete a great soundtrack.
7. Kingdom Hearts II (2006)
Arguably the most awaited sequel in video game history. Kingdom Hearts II doesn't disappoint, once again, Sora, Goofy, and Donald must go in search of King Mickey while dealing with the mysterious Organization XIII. After their meeting with Namine, who puts Sora, Goofy, and Donald to sleep for a year so they can regain their lost memories. Upon awaking, they set out to find the missing King Mickey and Riku. 6. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (2004)
With it's amazing visuals, gameplay and boss battles. MGS3 delivers on just about everything, Hell, it even stands by it's title. Without a doubt the best MGS game to date.
5. Guitar Hero (2005)
Featuring a uniquely shaped and easy to learn guitar shaped controller, Guitar Hero features songs you'll actually want to listen to as you play them, and is accesable to beginners and experts alike. The guitar controller has 5 buttons and a flipper instead of strings. Colored notes appear on a music scale, and players have to hold down the corresponding button while strumming the flipper switch. This unique approach to a rhythm game is just one of the game's innovative approaches. The game's career mode is also perfectly balanced for new players. All the songs are covers of artists such as Ozzy Osborune, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, Queen, Red Hot Chili Peppers and David Bowe just to name a few. Guitar Hero's unique controller, great song list and fun game play make it one of the best games on the PlayStation 2.
4. Kingdom Hearts (2002)
I'll be honest, when I heard that Disney and Squaresoft were going to make a game using Disney and Final Fantasy characters I thought it was going to be a joke, man, was I wrong. Kingdom Hearts is a beautiful gaming expierence, you'll fall in love with this game, it's truly a role-playing game like no other out there.
3. Shadow of The Colossus (2005)
Wow, what an amazing game this is, Shadow of The Colossus is a game that is beautifully and has tons of painstakingly well-put together scenes that truly capture the imagination of players everywhere as they make their way across the enchanted land on a mission to raise the dead. The girl they traveled with is now dead, and while the land is one of darkness and evil, it also has the answers to life, and more importantly to the character, it also has the ability to reinstitute a life that’s already expired. As such, players are told to bring down sixteen colossi that can be found spread across the land. And they are then told that even if they succeed in doing this, the girl’s resurrection is in no way guaranteed. So, with nothing more than a maybe to hang their armor on, players set out with their reliable horse in an attempt to restore the life of the one they love. Each battle with a Colossi, is a boss battle in it own right, having to crawl onto one and find each of it's weak spot. The graphics and environments are so majestic that players will find themselves continuing on with the game just to see what lies around the corner.
2. God of War (2005)
An original game, with over the top gore, a bad ass character and fucking awesome gameplay. God of War brings ancient Greek mythology to life, putting players in the role of Kratos, a deeply troubled Spartan warrior who must battle Hydra, Cyclopses, and even Ares, the God of war himself, to save Athens from destruction. Fortunately, Kratos has several weapons at his disposal. His main weapons are called the blades of chaos, blades actually connected to Kratos’s skin by chains. As the game progresses, Kratos will be able to upgrade his weapons and buy new combo attacks by collecting red orbs, plus some of the Gods of Olympus will bestow upon him new powers and weapons to assist him against Ares. Hell, it even features a threesome scene, and allows you to rip heads off!
1. Grand Theft Auto III (2001)
I remember the first time I played GTAIII and I forgot that there were missions to do, I just drove around the city, stealing cars and killing people on the street. With an enormous world rendered in staggering detail GTAIII revolutionized video games, think about it how many GTA clones have been released since this game game out? Dozens upon dozens, and only the other GTA spin offs have been able to re-create the same feel as GTAIII, the game never gets boring, I still play it to this day, it just manages to get everything right.
