mp3 is a format, ipod is a product. ipods can play MP3s. Unless you mean other types of MP3 players in which that ipods are usually status symbols

perhaps i asked the question the wrong way. i've been looking into getting an ipod, however i dont know the difference. ipod must be just a status thing, while there are other quality products that play mp3's right? i never cared because i just burned my cd's, but after like several hundred cd's it's time to upgrade..

ipods are "better" because of their (usually) smaller size and nice looking interface. They all place MP3s the same, if theres a difference its mainly the headphones. The ipod is a nice product, i don't know about the other brands though

im starting to get it now. i guess that's just a popular brand name of a newer mp3 player, even though there are many other types that all do the same thing. alright - thanks , ebay here i come!

Ive got iPod 20Gb U2 Edition (btw I don't like U2), and it's very good, I really like it, and it's much better than my simple mp3 player.
