More Stringent Rules - Quicker Technicals This Year In The NBA

#1
Here is an article about how the NBA will not tolerate questioning referees during games anymore:

The NBA, in an attempt to cut down on the incessant complaining by players to officials, has instituted what amounts to a zero-tolerance rule this season. Where in the past the referees might look the other way when Rasheed Wallace threw his arms in the air or made some other wild gesture after a questionable call, or when Tayshaun Prince put his hands on his hips and shook his head in disgust after a call, this season, such actions could bring a quick technical.
He has instituted a fine system, starting at $5,000, every time a player or coach makes a public criticism of an official. He has stiffened the consequences on multiple technicals -- $1,000 fine for the first five, $1,500 for the next five, $2,000 for the next five then $2,500 for the ones that followed, plus a one-game suspension for every other technical after the 15th.

And more from another source:

Hill said he was actually teaching Wilcox a lesson about the new officiating guidelines for 2006-07. Officials have notified every team that arguing calls without running down the court will result in a technical.

I absolutely despise the way David Stern is trying to turn the NBA into some pussy league where you can't show any disgust or make any physical contract with someone. He wants to take away all the defense and make it like the all offense pussy Euro league, it's boring and annoying for the refs to be stopping the game every 20 seconds. Stern has completely lost his mind. How the fuck does Stern expect them to just hold it all in. Hell, I'm not even sure if the refs agree with these rules(as they know and can call technicals when it's over the line anyway). This moron thinks he can do anything.

Captains may not react as dramatically on a "non-call," but as the captain, he should be allowed to discuss it with a referee during any clock stoppage (i.e. free throws, timeouts, dead ball).

LOL at "Euro pussy" league! You do know that Europeans focus more on defense than NBA players, right? You do know that the US team at the World Championships lost due in part by focusing too much on offense as opposed to defense?
