Men and pregnancy

#1
I have yet to find any research concerning this issue but it's been weighing on my mind lately so I wanted to get your views.

Do you think that the father feels a stronger connection to the mother while she is pregnant with his child? I don't mean sexually but like, do you believe that her hormones and feromones make him feel closer to her because she is carrying his child? Even if he wouldn't know about it (her being pregnant), would he subconsciously feel closer to her?

Discuss.

I think he would. When a woman is pregnant, a male (whether it's the father or not) who is close to her will feel more affection towards her, and feel like he is needed, so he will provide her with care. That's evolutionary behavior where males have an affectionate response to females who are carrying an offspring (who further the species). I think that's also one reason why couples want to have children (as opposed to adoption), they want to go through those 9 months where they really care for each other a lot, and get ready for the baby. If you've ever experienced it first hand, whether you have had a baby or have had a friend who had one (as I did), you can just feel it in the air when you're with them.

Yes but you are talking about couples where both the man and the woman knew they would have a child. But would a man subconsciously feel closer to the woman who's carrying his child? If she would hide her pregnancy from him, I mean.

You know I was thinking about this myself a few days ago, although I thought more along the lines of fathers not meeting their daughters before their born and if there was some type of protection against sexual attraction between the father and daughter if they'd meet for the first time when the daughter was all grown up and neither was aware there was a relation. I couldn't reach a conclusion though, so yeah.

all depends on who the guy is, some guys cave in under pressure and jet (we call them cowards), so thats obviouslynot coming closer to the mother

i don't know, you have an interesting point. I don't really think so, but that's usually because the woman generally lets the guy know as soon as she knows. But for your situation, I'd have to say outside of changes in the mannerisms, no (this is based on nothing but an assumption).
