Meeting of Minds

#1
If you were hosting a dinner party and could invite twelve guests, dead or alive, who would they be?

Who's brains would you like to pick? Who's anecdotes would you love to hear? Who'd be the life of the party?

Imagine Archimedes swapping sketches with Leonardo da Vinci. Imagine Oscar Wilde and Dorothy Parker making snide remarks about the current state of American politics. Imagine Martin Luther King discussing civil rights with Gandhi. Imagine Steven Hawkings talking physics with Isaac Newton. Imagine Galileo showing off his telescope to Copernicus. Imagine Napoleon comparing military strategy with Hannibal.

Mahatma Gandhi
Martin Luther King Jr.
Leonardo Da Vinci
Niccolo Machiavelli
Napolean
Immortal Technique

I can only think of those six right now.

You give us too few choices. :) Or that might be your point, concessions.

Regardless, the first that come to mind, taking in account forming groups of people that would discuss the same topic with each other:

1.) Einstein and Hawking and Newton = teh pwn
2.) Gandhi, King, throw Malcolm in it too.
3.) Sun Tzu, Napoleon would be fun
4.) Marx and Lenin would be a great. Limited subject, great differences.
5.) Socrates and Nietschze are mandatory for the ruckus they'd cause.

That's from the top of ye ol' head. 1 through 4 are disputable. Category 5 not. They'd be great for the smartass factor.

I'd also supply the whole group with beer and roasted meat :thumb: :thumb:

I'd go with

Hitler (I've always thought it'd be cool to see what he was like in person)
Osama bin Laden
Da Vinci
Dave Chappelle (I know you want historical people and all that but there's always room for some fun)
Jesus
Tupac

Actually that's all I can think about, Schopenhauer and other philosophers would be cool but I have a feeling they'd bore me.

Reinhard Heydrich
Alfred Meyer
Josef Bühler
Georg Leibbrandt
Wilhelm Stuckart
Erich Neumann
Roland Freisler
Martin Luther
Otto Hofmann
Rudolf Lange
Karl Eberhard Schongarth
Heinrich Muller
Adolf Eichmann
Friedrich Wilhelm Kritzinger
Gerhard Klopfer

I would love to sit down with them 'again'.
First, I would look at them crazy, then ask "How the hell...?", but before they could answer, I would have poisoned their wine.

I'd imagine some interesting conversations between Tupac and Karl Marx - both with a particular understanding of social and economic oppression. I'd certainly lend an ear to Galileo. Also I'd be interested to talk to Queen Elizabeth I or Anne Boleyn (the Tudors fascinate me for some reason). Mao Zedong or Kim Jong-il would certainly make for a lively discussion I would think... either that or a very tense one. Maybe also John Lennon. I cant even decide... might have to think on it some more.
