Kobe continues to rape NBA defenses

#5
Kobe singlehandedly overshadowed both the AFC & NFC Championship games, AND the highest combined NBA single game point total in 11 years (Seattle over Phoenix). This game (while against the Raptors, I'll admit they're not the Pistons), was Kobe's cementing as one of the greatest Laker players of all time.

His breaking of Elgin Baylor's record of 71 points as a Laker held very special for my dad, that's for sure. He was/is Elgin's biggest supporter still, and he called me up just screaming, "Kobe broke Elgin's record!".

55 2nd-half points, 28 in the fourth, and remember, the Lakers were down 16 in the 3rd quarter.

28-47 59% from the field including 7-14 from the behind the 3pt line and 18-20 from the free throw. The best individual performance I have seen since Jordan, or AI taking his team but wow. I was jaw dropped watching this. He also had 6 Reb and 2 assists. Crazy ass game he had. The rest of the team was 14-41 shooting. Wow describes it best. That was amazing to watch.

I never thought I would see any player score over 78 points in the NBA during my lifetime, that is just insane. 26-48 (48 SHOTS!) and he nearly made half of them, and if he didn't miss those 2 free throws he would have 83. Simply amazing, I mean MJ never scored 80, and I know it's against the Raptors but still you gotta give it up. That is something you may never see again.

^^ Dont worry, this will be hot on the torrents for some time. I missed it too, will have to leach it at some stage this week.

A game like that WILL be repeated, its just a shame we didnt get to see it live :(.

That's just rediculous.

100 points by Wilt back in the day was much easier than it'd be today. Defenses are structured totally different and players are taller and stronger. This is why you don't see people score 100 points anymore. So for Kobe to score 81 is completely amazing. Hats off.

What a lot of people don't remember is that Kobe almost did this 3 years ago and it was one of the most amazing games I'd ever seen in my life (and I'm not the biggest Kobe fan). He was on his way to a game just like this. He was playing against Jordan and the Wizards. He had something like 41 points at the end of the first half. I thought he'd do the same in the second but he cooled off and had like only 10 points.
