Kansas City Wake Up Call?

After getting swept by the worst team in baseball, Boston stepped up the offense in a 9-2 win.

Wells also scattered 9 hits over 7 innings for just one run. Looked good. Not dominant, but good. Hopefully he stays healthy and pitching like that.

^^^even though they did get swept by KC, you do realize they only beat the Orioles, right? i'm just saying this b/c of a dislike for Boston, but only b/c they're in the thick of the wild-card race with my chisox, so i have to put up a fake-hate front.

i hope the chisox dont make it....they definetly dont deserve to make it...if pitching wins games, then contreras should start every game....he's been the only reliable pitcher this year....their bullpen issues dont help either....thome has cool down considerably.....dye usually sucks second half, and they have been the life of the offense....what happened to scotty pod?

and the Orioles are putting a hurting on Josh Johnson today. I don't see Gorilla-tiz doing anything clutch today (unless strike outs count as clutch now)

Nah, Manny did, throwing and hitting

Red Sox offense has woken up these last two games. Wouldn't even have gone to extra innings if we had someone better than Jason Johnson on the mound. Won't have to worry about him when Wakefield gets back.

i dunno if they play lowell alot, but when he was hot, they did...i dunno he splits time at third with him..loretta is another lost soul still lookin for jehova.....what happened to the 200+hit seasons? he's in such a potent offense....wow....i would expect him to be up there in runs scored......

also, even the best have off-days...

as i say that, i think of this...would you rather have pujols or ortiz on your team??? pujols who does nothing clutch, he just hits consistently, but isnt AS exciting as ortiz, or ortiz, someone who...well..is the opposite of what i jus said....clutch...not AS consistent....

^ isn't Pujols second in late inning, game winning RBI's?

And Loretta is batting .305. Good production from 2B.

Lowell started off hot but is fading fast.

That Arroyo for Pena trade is looking a lot better now than it did during the first half of the season.

^^^i hope to God that the Yanks finally don't make the playoffs. a year without them or the braves in the playoffs would be the greatest year ever.

oh, and right now, the white sox would fair better if Garland pitched every game, not contreras.

lowell just hit a grand salami.....

also, what the fuck are you talking about, frodawg? garlands is prolly doing the worst of the 5 pitchers in the rotation...he's horrible...contreras is the one that's even come close to a no-hitter this season....oh...vazquez did it once, then realized he sucked, and opted to stick with his usual, 5 ERs a game, for 6 IP.....

Sox offense is on fire. 11 more runs today with Papi taking a rest and Manny going hitless for the first time in 28 games. Bodes well that they've realized they need to score runs for Five-Inning-Lester and Insert-A-Starter Johnson.

Lead down to one game after the Yanks loss. Big 5 game series next weekend.

until garland's last game, he had an eight game winning streak...i guess that sucks:rolleyes:

what was his ERA....that was what sucked...what was steve trachsel's win streak??? what was his ERA? the white sox offense won those games for garland....why cant they win them for buehrle or contreras..

i know ERA's important, but all that matters is that the games were won. his era is 4.98, but that doesn't affect his 13-4 record, 9-1 in the past 10 decisions. i didn't mention steve trachsel's streak or ERA nor do i care. and back to my original statement: they have been doing better with him on the hill; you said the team gives him more run support, then so be it. if that's the case, then they WOULD fare better with him then anyone else.

steve trachsel, like garland, was originally on the cubs, but decided to go elsewhere and suck....

so yes, the record is important, but its also the most flawed stat...the ERA is prolly the most accurate, since K's and walks depend upon the umps strike zone, but EARNED runs are very hard to dispute, unless your relief pitcher comes one after you and fucks you over if you left people on.....so that ERA of 4.98 is pretty damn horrible...you're not gonna win a championship with a pitcher like that...

really, the team isnt like last year...dunno if isaid that before...there isnt as much life in the team...what's saved the sox is the hitting....but pitching wins the ballgames, and if buehrle contines to give up 6 runs early, vazquez cant pitch past he 6th, and contreras cant recover from the shock of the end of his 27 game streak...there's not much hope...garcia just had a shitty year...but how much of a difference could it have made if he won 4 or 5 more games for the sox?

^^^no question the team isn't like last year, but i believe that they do deserve and should get the wild card, at least. i actually think this makes it more exciting, that they're not a sure repeat. even though sometimes it's painful, it's exhilerating!
