Joe Calzaghe vs. Jeff Lacey

Anyone watch this?

Stayed up on Sat night for a boxing/poker night and i gotta say i wasn't disappointed. A couple of people fancied Lacey to win but i hadn't seen much him and only knew that he was the slight favourite with the bookies over here but Calzaghe absolutely dismantled him, as in took him apart piece by piece. I don't think i've ever seen such a comprehensive boxing lesson dished out, he was simply immense.

Anyway, i was wondering what some Americans thought of the fight? Were you surprised to see Lacey get taken out and was he expected to do more? He looked amateurish and Calzaghe's footwork and speed completely out-foxed him.

Lacy took a beating for sure, i have been a calzaghe fan for years but i have got to say that this one had me worried before hand. Lacy was coming off 2 impressive wins against (a faded) Robin Reid and Pemberton and looked a great fighter, that is because he is a great fighter but Joe has far superior speed and boxing skills.

Credit to Lacy for taking his lumps and sticking with it, he will be the future of that division once Calzaghe moves up.

Finally Joe will get the credit (and paydays)he deserves being he is the longest reigning champ in boxing today.
