January Transfer Window

Use this thread to discuss transfers and potential transfers.

To kick things off, there's a lot of speculation about Dave Nugent making the move to the Premiership. I'm not sure it would be a good move, since Preston are currently third and might get promoted anyway.

Mascharano looks likely to leave West Ham. What a joke that is, If Pardew thought Mullins was better than Mascharano he deserves to be sacked lol. Same with Curbs.

Will Crouch leave liverpool?

Will Hargreaves join Man Utd?

It's not like Mascherano impressed when he did play. Everyone expected him and Tevez to make a big splash in the Prem, but neither has.

^Well anyone expecting an impressive start by either is deluded. You can't expect any player who hasn't played European football (especially the Premiership) to adapt in a couple of games. Mascharano has only played 5 games, Probably started 1 or 2. Not enough time to impress. Remember it took both Henry and Bergkamp awhile to settle.

Tevez on the other handhas been played quality recently, did you see him vs Everton? Best player on the pitch for Westham, he played a few other good games also. All i guess he needs is a goal so his doubters can get off his back.

DPG who are you siding with, PLG or Barry?
PLG

Nobody is bigger than the club and Ferguson has supposedly been undermining PLG since day 1. If that is true then i back Le Guen fully, even if a lot of fans don't.

He's played 7 games, league and cup. Started 5. You can say "Oh, he hasn't had time to settle", but you can't expect managers to keep playing him if the team is struggling. You can't keep waiting for him to hit form. Shevchenko wasn't doing well and eventually Mourinho had to drop him. It's harsh on Mascherano, since he is a good player. He'd probably do better in Spain or Italy.

But would you still play, Reo Coker? Harewood? Mullins? Zamora? who have put West Ham in this situation in the first place?

Surely they can't be given any more chances?

Look at Tevez it took him 5-6 games to hit form, and when he plays he's West Hams biggest threat.

Mascherano Desperate For Nightmare To End

West Ham midfielder Javier Mascherano admits he is keen to leave the club after a lack of first-team opportunities.

The Argentinian joined in a high profile transfer deal with compatriot Carlos Tevez in August but has started just three Premiership matches and has not figured under new manager Alan Curbishley.

"I must leave. I can't spend any more time without playing,” he was quoted as saying in Equipo.

"It's to be expected that if I'm not playing for West Ham I will have to continue my career with another club. I came to England to succeed but so far I've not had the opportunities to do so."

Juventus have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Mascherano, who has also been linked with Liverpool and Real Zaragoza.

Tevez has been given more of a chance to showcase his talents, but despite some encouraging displays, has yet to find the net for the Hammers.

Luis Boa Morte has moved from Fulham to West Ham, and Alexei Smertin is said to be heading to Upton Park too.

Phil Bardsley has moved from Manchester United to Aston Villa on loan.

Watford apparently turned down a cash + Calum Davenport + Wayne Routledge deal for Ashley Young.

Kevin Doyle has signed a new contract with Reading.

Bayern Munich say Owen Hargreaves can leave, at the right price (I heard 30 million, but I don't know if that's Euros or GBP. Either way it's too much).

Portsmouth have been linked with Marseille's Taye Taiwo, but Harry Redknapp thinks it would take a big offer to land the defender.

Milan Baros turned down a move to Real Sociedad.

PSV's Mexican defender Carlos Salcido wants to move to England at the end of the season.

West Ham also want Darren Bent, but so do Spurs. Supposedly West Ham are willing to offer Marlon Harewood and...someone else, Mullins I think. But if Spurs can't get Bent then they might go for Harewood. Complicated. Spurs already have Defoe, Berbatov, Keane and Mido. I don't see why they need another forward.

United are supposed to be signing Gareth Bale from Southampton for £5m. Bale's a left-back which makes me a bit worried about Heinze's future.

According to the Guardian's Football Weekly podcast (which is very good) Antonio Cassano was caught on camera doing an unflattering impersonation of Fabio Capello, so he might be on the way out. His former club Roma, along with AC Milan, Benfica and Newcastle have been touted as possible destinations.

Its Euros. But its wrong. Hoeneß (manager) said Owen will stay at the club until summer!
