Iraqi MP Shot Dead in her Home

An Iraqi MP was shot and killed by militants who stormed into her house today, Iraqi police said.

Lamia Abed Khadouri al-Sagri, a National Assembly legislator and member of outgoing premier Ayad Allawi’s Iraqi List party, was killed in her house in the Hay Aour neighbourhood in eastern Baghdad, said Police Capt. Ali al-Obeidi.

Insurgents have targeted senior MPs and Iraqi politicians in a bid to further destabilise reconstruction efforts in the country.

Last week, a suicide car bomb detonated near a police checkpoint as Allawi’s convoy drove home. One policeman was killed and two were wounded, Iraqi police said. Allawi escaped unharmed.

Well of course, if one is fighting for freedom from a government - one has to attack the establishment!

-but dont get me wrong, its horrible tactic they are using, and I dont believe their cause is just...but as for whether its freedom fighting - yes, they are fighting the government for their freedom, regardless of their cause and tactics they are fighting for self determination (that is the people who are doing it)

My question inferred a little more than direct meaning. The underlying spirit of it essentially was, do the supporters of the "insurgerents" consider this a deplorable tactic or one which is a sufficent means to an end?

Well I dont think any of them get off on killing if thats what u mean, but im sure most of them see it as a means to an end. What your getting at is whether we believe its a mean to an end - Personally i do see that what they are doing does have a structure, but i dont think it will achive the end they are searching for!
peace

The Guardian: Iraqi officials last night said an American helicopter fired on a wedding party in western Iraq killing more than 40 people, including many children, in another damaging setback for the US occupation.

A senior Iraqi police officer told the Associated Press that a helicopter fired at the party early yesterday morning in a remote village close to the Syrian border, killing between 42 and 45 people.

Television footage showed a truck carrying the bodies of the dead arriving in Ramadi, the nearest big town. Many of the dead were clearly children.

I don't know the context of that attack so it's unfair for me to comment. However, it was most likely an accident as opposed to the "insurgents" campaigns of murderous random bombings.

yes so was the attack on that Iraqi MP and every other attack, they were mistaken for u.s forces  in my opinion every iraqi puppet put in power by the u.s should be shot and killed, they know better than to allign themselves with the people that invaded their country and killed thousands and thousands of their own fellow iraqis while at it.

shock and awe was a campaign of murderous cowardly random bombings, so was the bombing of Fallujah which left 90% of the city completly obliterated, some iraqis described the scene in fallujah after the bombings as if a 9.0 earthquake hit the city.

No they kill thousands upon thousands of terrorists/insurgents (misguided or not) who are mostly attempting to take advantage of Iraq for their own ends. Name me ONE instance where the U.S. army intentionally sanctioned and attacked a civilian target for it's own gain in Iraq.

This is what's called a military campaign. If you attack an army and stow away into a large city to hide from them you can't help but know of the reprecussions. The U.S. military did all it reasonably could in order to get civilians out of the city before commencing their offensive.
