sounds like the firmware may have just froze.... i dont have an iPod or anything but thats just what it sounds like to me... see if there's a way to reset the firmware or something... or "flash" it.. if there isnt i suggest leaving it for a few days till the battery drains and it wont even turn on to tell you its empty... then charge it n give it a go...

best of luck.

^ you can try that or if you want to ensure there are no problems in the future use the ipod updator program that will be on your computer( automatically installs when you install itunes). before you do that though head to the itunes website and download the latest version of itunes. this is important to do first as the ipod updator contains the latest version of firmware for your ipod( the most recent update to firmware lets the ipod use significantly less battery during use). once installled just update your ipod and your good to go. however be careful which option you use( they are clearly marked) as one will just install the latest version of firmware the second will delete your entire hard drive then reinstall brand new software but your songs will be gone. holla if you need help
