Technology Ipod Nanos?

#1
so this guy at my work bought a bunch of 4 gig Ipod nanos off the internet and is selling them, brand new, with all the needed extras for $250 cdn (saving $100) plus the retail warranty. So i was thinkin bout buying one.

But at school today, people hav been tellin me not too, cuz they suck. They say the battery power is very weak, and that the screens brake very easily.

Jus wonderin, if wut ive been told is true? Are they worth buying?

Well, they are more fragile than other mp3 players, but if you use the protective cover on it, the screen will not get broken nor scratched. As for the dude you're talking about, he probably bought a "lot" of them on ebay for like 1k or even 10k. I don't think you should buy it from him, it's better to get it off the apple site, free shipping, plus two lines of free engraving of your choice.

^Well, what accessories are accompanied with it? Personally, I have a problem with the common people trying to make a profit off me. I'd rather give money to Apple, which I know is idiotic of me.

Plus do u get the apple one year warranty. They only thing that shits me about the ipod is the ear phones. I've sent mine back like 5 times already. Plus, apple support is second to none. So if u get the warranty and everything, by all means go for it.

Well, are they accessories that don't come with the nano when you purchase it from Apple? I the accessories he's talking about, are found inside the box, then they are not accesories. An accessory is like an arm band for the nano, etc. But, yeah, don't rush into this. Make sure you know all the details. $250 aint no joke. :)

The screens are a big bone of contention at the moment and, like you said, iPod's don't have the best battery lives.

Bear in mind as well that you're paying extra because it's an iPod. You can get a 5gb Rio Carbon for about $150, or a 6gb Creative Micro for around $200.

thanks to both of u, i will talk to him tomoro to find out all the specifics, and Salar, im not sur the specifics on the warranty, but i believe its the year long apple one.

well remember the warranty is only valid if u have an original receipt.
Otherwise it's not under apple warranty

I'm saying it's a cheaper deal.

Positives:
Cheaper
Larger capacity
Removable battery (meaning you could buy a spare one and charge both up effectively doubling the battery life.)
Supports WMA files (smaller than mp3s)
Sync-able with WMP (can automatically synchronise your WMP library with your player whenever you plug it in)
Plays FM radio
Built-in voice recorder

Negatives:
Doesn't display photos/ebooks
Slightly shorter battery life
Thicker (because it's hard drive, not flash)
Not as pretty.

i used to have a creative zen
the earphone jack kept fucking up (after replacing it 3 times)
Support for it is TERRIBLE
and the sound quality wasn't as good.

The sound quality on Creative players is best-in-class. Fact.
maybe it was because of the earphone jack constantly fucking up. the first few times they fixed the earphone jack, then the next 2 times they gave me a new player. All times it fucked up and so i lashed out on em. It's just frustrating. like i'm frustrated with the FUCKING ipod earphones and next time they fuck up i'm going to request them to send me cash so i can buy proper ear phones. Fuckers!

^Why not buy other earphones? I never use earphones that come originally with like a cd player or other mp3 player.

Can I get a source on this fact? I am pressuming that Zen has far better or at the same level of sound quality like the ipod's?
Highest audio quality of any MP3 player
Creative MP3 players are renowned for their superior audio quality, and the Zen Micro is no exception. With an outstanding industry leading 98dB signal to noise ratio, you can achieve audio bliss with clarity as good as expensive hi-fi systems. That coupled with high fidelity earphones with dynamic bass response, the Zen Micro not only sets a new standard for sheer style, but for the best sound quality with unmatched audio perfection.

From the Creative website. Cited in lots of reviews.

The sound quality is best in class probably because Creative built their reputation on their SoundBlaster soundcards.
