Technology Ipod Mini...

#1
Hello people.

Well i just got an iPod Mini yesterday, and everything is working well except the songs transfered straight from my CDs, when i listen to them on my iPod they skip, and the CDs are not scratched, all other songs don't have a problem (downloaded songs).

Now this has happened to me when i had a minidisc also, i'm thinking it could be my CD Drive, because this computer is gay and old as hell, could it be that?

If anybody has any idea about this please help me out, thank you.

well rip the files to mp3, and see if the mp3s skip. if they do, then the ripping is the problem. either ur cd or cdrom drive is fucked. if so, theres some good ripping programs that will rip in a special way to get the best quality and without skipping.

try download.com to look for some,or google

you dont need to re-rip. change the default to mp3 at whichever quality you want. then, go to a song in AAC and right click. it should say on the menu "convert to mp3". do that.

alright, just keep in mind that with mp3 your song capacity will be cut down dramatically
yeah that's what i heard, but how dramatically though?

also does it happen to anybody when they rip a cd one song goes out of order and in the ipod when you look at the artist menu, you see the artist twice, example

artist1
artist2
Mos Def> all songs from the CD are here except one
Mos Def> only one song here (the one missing from top)
artist4

it's damn annoying.

thank you

you're doing something wrong...
i set up a friend's mini and it handled aac and mp3 flawlessly, and without the menu glitches you describe. are you using itunes to encode your aac/mp3? if you are, i'd suggest doing a software update to ensure you have the most up-to-date version, since recent revisions have included more ipod options (including podcasts). next, when you rip a cd, check to be sure that the album information is correct in itunes (and the resulting id3 tag). sometimes if a song is glitched from the cdd online directory then it will either misname or use someone else's naming of it (since users contribute to the database).

finally and most important, check any song that skips on your ipod on your computer (the local file that you uploaded to the ipod). does it play fine? if so, then get an ipod ripper (freeware) and rip the skippy song from your ipod back to your pc (you should have a mac, your first mistake) and see if it's skippy. if it is then you have a connectivity issue, or the ipod board is bad. for me the ipod mini was plug and play without any issues.

Thanks for the input, i founf out the problem already, the info for the songs just had extra spaces and shit so that's fixed.

Now i have another problem which is really gay.

When i try to rip a CD onto iTunes it does it but it skips every other song, and it happens on every CD

Example:

song1 - Ripped
song2 - Not Ripped
song3 - Ripped

and so on... anybody know a solution?

thank you.
